At Cronulla South Public School, we are committed to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment for every member of our school community, both in the classroom and in digital and online spaces. This statement outlines our school’s role in supporting safe and responsible digital learning, and the expectations we have for our students when using technology.

At our school, we:

Have a Student Behaviour Plan that sets out our values and expected standards of conduct, including how online behaviour is addressed and the consequences for breaching these standards.
Deliver age-appropriate programs and activities to help students develop the skills and knowledge they need to use digital technologies safely, respectfully and responsibly.
Provide guidance and information about key digital access issues, including online privacy, protecting personal information, understanding intellectual property, and respecting copyright.
Supervise and support students when using digital technologies, both in the classroom and in other learning environments.
Follow clear processes and protocols to protect students in online spaces, including reviewing the safety and suitability of digital tools, responding quickly to remove offensive or harmful content, and applying other protective measures as required.
Provide a filtered internet service to reduce the risk of students encountering inappropriate content.
Use online platforms and digital tools that are aligned with our curriculum and support student learning.
Address issues or incidents (whether occurring at school or online) that may affect the wellbeing or safety of our students.
Refer any suspected illegal online activity to the appropriate law enforcement agencies for investigation.
Support parents and carers to understand safe and responsible use of technology for educational purposes.

Our school has as an option a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program across Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 classes. Our vision is to encourage creative and innovative learning opportunities for students using BYOD as a tool to facilitate and maximise learning.

BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) refers to students bringing a personal technology device to school to use for educational purposes under the direction of a teacher. For BYOD, ‘device’ refers to a privately owned wireless laptop. This will also ease transitions into high school, where students are required to bring their own laptops.

All families are required to complete the Technology agreement form regardless of whether your child plans to bring their own device. Please ensure that you have signed all relevant parts of the form. This agreement is required every year for all students in 3-6, even if they have previously submitted a BYOD form.
