CAR USAGE PROCEDURES

At all times, the school expects students driving vehicles to behave in a safe and responsible manner on school grounds, on the roads around the school and at the entry and exit points of the school.
Cars can be driven to or from school or to and from school activities.
Student drivers are expected to conform to the road rules at all times.
The number of passengers must not exceed the number of fitted seatbelts. Passengers must be listed on the driver request form.
No student may travel as a passenger in a car with another student to school activities without the written consent of the parent/carer of both the passenger and the driver.
Student driving vehicles must have a valid driver’s licence, which a representative of the school has sighted and copied upon presentation of this application.
Vehicles being driven by students must have current registration and current comprehensive or third party property insurance. Details should be listed with this application.
Student drivers must not charge customers a fare as this may nullify their insurance cover. If drivers wish to share costs with passengers, a check must be made with their insurance provider to ensure that such arrangements will not nullify their insurance coverage.
At all times, drivers must conduct themselves in a way that is safe and protective of other students and property while on school premises
Car use must not interfere with the learning rights of students or the ability of teachers to adequately supervise students or to teach.
As a general rule, students should not be in or visit cars during school hours.
Due to limited liability insurance held by NSW Department of Education the school will not be held responsible for any damage to cars or property while parked on school grounds.

CONSEQUENCES

Discipline procedures will be imposed if students are found breaching the Car Usage Procedures.

Illegal driving practices on public roads are also illegal on school grounds or on school activities.
Dangerous use of cars on school grounds or on school activities will result in Police involvement.
