A feature of the public education system in NSW is the opportunity to provide time in class for education in ethics, faith and morality from a religious or non-religious perspective at the choice of parents/carers.

SRE occurs during one period per week for one term each semester. During this period students who do not attend SRE engage in revision or skills based activities, so that students who are attending SRE do not miss out on any new content.
