If you selected Special Religious Education or Special Education in Ethics, you confirm that, in doing so, you consent to the Department providing your child’s name to the nominated approved provider. The Department is required to obtain your consent under section 26 of the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW) so that it does not have to comply with section 19, which would otherwise apply to prevent the Department from providing your child’s name.

If no provision of lessons is available currently in your stated religion, you may select an appropriate alternative, or you might approach a representative of that religion regarding involvement in the school’s SRE program. This involvement should be discussed with the Principal and is conditional on the religion having an approved provider.

Students not attending SRE will be supervised by the school and can work independently on homework, reading or private study depending on the availability of rooms and supervision.

SRE teachers will be provided with a class list of the names of students.

A brief outline of each group follows:

Protestant - Joint Denominational Scripture

This class is conducted by ministers and authorised people from the Anglican, Baptist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Liberty Family Church, Church of Christ, Gosford Christian Outreach Centre, Associated Christian Ministries International and Uniting Church. These churches are working hard to make Scripture enjoyable, fun and rewarding experience for your children. These lessons convey to the children the importance of positive Christian values and the relevance of Jesus Christ in their life.

Baha’i

The Baha’i teachings emphasise the unity of religions and acknowledge the diversity of the Human family. Classes include such topics as the Religions of the World and the variety of cultures and festivals celebrated. The Mineral, Vegetable, Animal and Human Kingdoms of God, Peace and Environmental studies and the Virtues Program in which respect, responsibility, kindness, honesty and courtesy to name a few are practiced. Lessons are suited to class level.

Roman Catholic

This class is conducted by priests and authorised people of the Roman Catholic faith.

Non-Scripture

The children who do not attend Scripture classes are supervised by a teacher and given tasks to do. If you would like to change your child’s scripture nomination, please complete this form and return to the school office. These changes can only be made at the beginning of each term.
