Permission to film and publish short videos

The NSW Department of Education (Department of Education) has partnered with **Filmpond to help your child’s school tell stories through films that inspire and engage the school community.

**Filmpond is an organisation that works with the Department of Education to help schools to share their work with their colleagues and the school community through the production of short videos.

What does it involve?

This innovative filmmaking method allows schools to capture the magic of the classroom with a simple video camera or device.

The raw footage is then edited by film school graduates into a professional and engaging short film.

The films are then shared on the Department of Education Filmpond page and the school’s Filmpond page.

Permission to film and publish

I authorise the Department of Education through its employees or agents to

1.make a video and/or audio recording of my child together with other audio visual materialto be used in short films for Filmpond, schools and the Department of Education to promote andshare teaching and learning experiences

2.make use of or exhibit photos, and/or video/audio recordings, incorporating my child’simage, likeness and/or voice for the duration of the copyright which shall be the absoluteproperty of the Department of Education throughout the world for the purposes of publishing, sharing,distributing or promoting the short films within the Filmpond project

3.make use of photos and/or video/audio recordings incorporating my child’s image, likenessand/or voice for the Filmpond project which may be blurry, distorted or altered or used incomposite form whether intentional or otherwise, that may occur or be produced in theprocessing of the Filmpond project

4.use my child’s first name, age, class and video/audio recordings of my child, my child’s workand expressions of opinion in the short film for the Filmpond project

5.provide or share any photo or video/audio recordings incorporating my child’s image,likeness and or/voice to Filmpond to professionally edit the recordings into short films.

I understand the places where this material may be published or disclosed include but are not limited to

•public websites of the Department of Education including the school website and the staffintranet (staff only), blogs and wikis

•public websites where the Filmpond videos will be uploaded such as Department ofEducation and school Filmpond channels

•Department of Education publications to promote the Filmpond project including the schoolnewsletter and school report, promotional material published in print, and electronically

•Department of Education and school social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter andYouTube

•local and metropolitan newspapers and magazines and other media outlets.

I am aware that when information is published on public websites and social media channels, it can be discoverable online for a number of years, if not permanently. Search engines may also cache or retain copies of published information. Published information can also be linked to by third parties.

I understand that consent to participate in the Filmpond project is entirely voluntary.

I have read this permission to film and publish form and fully understand the meaning.
