As it is consid ered a normal school day\, all students who are turning 8 this year or old er are expected to attend the carnival (Please note - Year 2 students turn ing 8 can remain at school if they choose\, parents need to decline permis sion ASAP to allow us to plan for adequate supervision at school).

S tudents will participate in 100m\, 200m\, 800m\, Shot Put\, Discus\, Long Jump and High Jump.

The 1500m is optional and will be held prior to the official start of the program at 9am . Any students wishing to compete\, will need to provide their own transport to the venue and arrive by 8:50am.

Students will compete in their AGE GROUP which is determined by the AG E THEY TURN IN 2026.  \;Please ensure your child knows which age group they are in prior to the carnival.

Parents attending must pay an en try fee at the kiosk upon arrival.  \;Parents are welcome to sit in th e stands with their children or utilise the grass areas outside the fence. No parents are to enter the track inside the fence.

This semester Stage 2 have been learning about what life was like for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) Peoples before thei r first contacts with European explorers. We have investigated the nature of first contact and the impacts of the spreading European colony on the l ocal Aboriginal Peoples.

Stage 2 also explored the reasons behind jo urneys of exploration prior to European settlement and have investigated t he early years of European (British) settlement in Australia and discussed the reasons behind the establishment of the Sydney colony\, the First Fle et journey\, and what life was like for the early colonists.

As a culmination of our unit\, we will be participating in a Stage 2 hand s-on learning day.

Our day includes an incursion supported by the Australian Museum and Hyde Park Barracks on Convict Life of the 19< sup>th Century.

We will also be exploring indigenous connectio n to country\, early school and home life\, food rations and botanist draw ings of our local environment.
