Students will engage in a guided history tour of the First Nations Gallery at the Australian Museum and a live streaming about Indigenous Li teracy Day from the Opera House and an art activity.

This will answer our in quiry question: How can we create a multimodal presentation of animal life cycles and how they are used in food and materials across the seasons? As you are aware\, your child will be participating in the O ur Spectacular Concert on Monday 22nd September 2025 at t he Sydney Opera House. \;
Students are expected to arrive at sch ool by 8:55am. Students will be supervised by teachers fr om 8:55am until the performance concludes at approximately 9:30pm< /strong>. Students will travel to the Opera House by bus and have dinner a t City Extra in Circular Quay.
You are required to collect y our child AFTER the performance at approximately 9:30pm at the Opera House . \;At conclusion of evening Students will be waiting at the front entrance\, in the tunnel\, just before you go up the internal stair s to enter the Opera House (see attached image). \;Meet here to colle ct your child. Please note\, the total cost for the bus fee\, team entry fee\, referee fee and player fee came to $60. As there is a clash with the Stage 3 Swim Program\, a $15 deduction has been applied to THIS event to account for th e missed swim session for Monday the 20th of October 2025. In Stage 2 students are learning about teamwork\, building p ositive relationships\, effective communication and leadership. To support this learning students will be attending a &lsquo\;Challenge&rsquo\; excu rsion at the Field of Mars Environmental Education Centre. Students will w ork through a range of challenges and reflect on their leadership\, teamwo rk and communication skills. These challenges will include orienteering\, shelter construction and animal adaptations.
Homebush West school leaders are hosting our Twilight Concer t on Thursday 20 November. School Leaders are required to be at school at 4pm and will stay until the end of their concert at 6:45pm. They are requi red to be in full leader uniform and parents will need to transport them t o and from the venue.
Your child has been participating in a Fishing Club program throughout the year. They have engaged in lessons from the ‘Get Hooked\, It’s Fun to Fish’ resource created by the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) which is made up of six teaching modules whic h form a Junior Fishing Code and are derived from the National Code princi ples. The Junior Fishing Codes have been aligned to the Australian Curricu lum and meet syllabus outcomes across all Key Learning Areas in both Junio r and Senior outcomes. As part of the program\, the practical component wi ll be applying all their knowledge and skills in a 2-hr fishing session ru n and supported by DPI staff.
In Science\, Early Stage 1 students are learning about livin g things. Kindergarten will be visiting Calmsley Hill City Farm\, a sizabl e farm featuring many animals\, interactive shows and a tractor ride. This will be a valuable learning experience for students to consolidate their understanding of our unit. Students will recognise that living things have different features and basic needs which can be met.
Your child&rsquo\;s progress and journey through primary sch ool will be celebrated at the Year 6 Farewell on Thursday 11th December 2025. This occasion marks the completion of primary school life a nd is an important school event. Year 6 students will be receiving officia l invitations shortly. \;
The Year 6 Farewell is an important\, formal school occasion for all Year 6 and Year 5 students\, marking the complet ion of primary school life for Year 6 students. \;
Each year\, Y ear 5 students develop their leadership skills and serve as the event team . Year 5 students train for this special role as part of their transition program. \;
Students are required to wear a white shirt\, black pants and black shoes.

As part of the Stage 3 middle school transition program\, an incursion has been organised to develop their collaborative skills and in digenous cultural knowledge through fitness. The Blackfit fitness program integrates traditional Indigenous games and dance through storytelling off ers students a unique opportunity to develop physical fitness while deepen ing their understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait I slander cultures. Through engaging activities rooted in Indigenous traditi ons\, students enhance their coordination\, agility\, and endurance in a f un\, inclusive environment. Storytelling enriches the experience by connec ting movement to cultural knowledge\, history\, and language\, fostering r espect\, cultural awareness\, and a stronger sense of community. This holi stic approach supports students&rsquo\; physical\, social\, and emotional well-being\, while enhancing awareness in Indigenous heritage and encourag ing cross-cultural understanding.
As part of our Term 4 Integrated Unit\, students have been e xploring the features of living things and their habitats by engaging in a n inquiry based on the question: "\;How can we demonstrate our underst anding of the features of living things and their habitats\, by designing an enclosure to care for them?"\; Through this excursion\, students wi ll be able to participate in hands-on learning experiences that will help them observe and describe the characteristics of various living things\, i ncluding their needs for survival\, and investigate the environments where they naturally live.
To celebrate the end of an amazing year\, students and staff will be attending our annual school picnic. Students will engage in physi cal and social activities including outdoor games\, scenic walks and an ou tdoor picnic recess and lunch. \;

On Tuesday 24th February 2026\, students (turning 8 years old or above) will swim in the 50m outdoor at the annual school S wimming Carnival held at the Auburn Aquatic Centre.
Students will be selected from this event to represent our school at the Zone Swimming Car nival in Term 1.
Your child has been selected to represent Homebush West Publ ic School in the dance ensemble at the Pulse Alive concert\, held at Ken R osewall Arena\, Sydney Olympic Park. Being a part of the Pulse Alive concert is a great opportunity for your child to showcase thei r talent in the Creative and Performing Arts\, while also developing valua ble skills in confidence\, self-esteem\, teamwork\, and communication. Your child has be en selected to attend a one-day South Asian dance enrichment workshop\, re cognising their interest and potential in dance and movement.
Taught by South Asian dance tutors in collaboration with the NSW Departme nt of Education’s Arts Unit\, the program encourages creativity\, confid ence and cultural connection through a vibrant blend of traditional and co ntemporary South Asian dance forms. Dance styles explored include Bollywoo d and folk styles such as Kathak\, Bhangra and more.

The conference gives your child the opportunity to meet with young leaders from across the state. Your child will also have the opport unity to listen to motivating speakers and take part in activities that wi ll develop their leadership skills. The conference is part of Homebush Wes t student leadership preparation program. It is an invaluable experience.< /p>

This visual arts camp is held at Brewongle Environmental Education Centre and facilitated by qualified visual arts teachers from the NSW Depa rtment of Education. We are pleased to announce that Homebush West has secured a limited number of places for our students to perform as part of the 2026 < strong>Gimbawali Festival in the choir at the Syd ney Opera House. Your child has been selected as a member of our < em>2026 Choir to perform at this event. This is a wonderful performance opportunity at Sydney&rsquo\;s most iconic performance venue a nd an amazing experience for students.
