Surf Fun Day

Our Surf Fun Day will be held at Terrigal Beach on Monday 16 December 2024. The S urf Fun Day run by real surf lifesavers from NSW Surf Life Saving Australia is \;not only an enjoyable day for all involved\, i t also teaches the students surf awareness\, rescue techniques\, sun prote ction\, how to identify a rip and a basic knowledge of lifesaving.

T he P&\;C have kindly donated funds to cover the cost of travel via a mi ni bus\,  \;as well as a lunch order with a drink for each student.&nb sp\;

The mini bus will only cater for 12 students\, therefore we wil l need some parents to transport their children.  \;If you were planni ng on staying and enjoying the day and are able to transport your own chil d\, please indicate in permission options.

This excursion aligns with the curriculum for Early Stag e 1 to Stage 3 on beach and coastal safety. \;

We a re excited to announce that the Arts Unit&rsquo\;s Primary Debating Worksh ops are returning in 2026! Last year\, over 4\,000 students from more than 570 schools across NSW participated in a full day of coaching and practic e with some of the state&rsquo\;s most experienced&mdash\;and friendly&mda sh\;adjudicators and coaches.

These workshops are design ed especially for students in Years 5 and 6\, welcoming all skill levels\, from beginners to advanced debaters. Throughout the day\, students will l earn essential debating skills such as rebuttal\, building arguments\, und erstanding definitions\, and the various speakers'\; roles. The worksho ps also include fun games and activities\, plus the opportunity for every student to deliver a short debating speech and receive personalised feedba ck.

Your chil d is part of a small group from CMPS invited to participated in this works hop on \;Thursday\, 26th March at Budgewoi. Th e $25 cost per student will be covered by the school.  \; Students wil l be accompanied by Mrs McCloud(CPR trained).

Please note that parents will need to arrange transport for their child to and from the workshop venue.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students to build their confidence\, enhance the ir debating skills\, and gain insights from the experts who will be judgin g the finals of the Premier'\;s Debating Challenge in 2026.

This e xcursion will take place from Wednesday 17 June to Friday 19 June\ , 2026.

Cost: Approximately $390.00 &ndash \; the final cost will be determined by the number of students attending.< /p>

This excursion aligns with the history syllabus topic\, "\;Austr alia as a Nation\,"\; giving students the opportunity to explore our n ation&rsquo\;s capital and deepen their understanding of Australia&rsquo\; s history and democracy. Additionally\, the excursion supports our PDHPE c urriculum by fostering resilience\, independence\, and friendship as stude nts navigate new experiences away from home. We believe this trip will pro vide valuable learning and growth opportunities both inside and outside th e classroom.

Please complete the expression of interest and return i t to the school office to indicate your child&rsquo\;s attendance at the e xcursion. Upon return of the Expression of Interest\, fam ilies will be invoiced for the non refundable deposit of $50.00 which will be payable via the School Bytes Parent Portal or in cash at the office. Central Mangrove Public School combines with the other Mounta in Small Schools and there are limited places on the coach. Students will be allocated a seat on a first in basis. The Small Schools’ Swimming Carnival will be held at Gosford Olympic Pool on \;Thursday\, 26 February 2025. This year\, all student  \;aged 8 years and over ar e expected to attend \;(students born 2013 to 2018).

In previo us years\, only competitive swimmers were encouraged to attend\, but this year we are emphasising \;participation for everyone. While competitiv e events will be held for confident swimmers who can swim 50 metres unaide d\, \;novelty events will be available for all other students\, encour aging every child to get involved and enjoy the day.

As part of our Farm t o Fork STEM unit\, our whole school will be going on an exciting excursion to two local farms to see working farms in action. We will be visiting:
  • Family Fresh Farms\, Peats Ridge &ndash\; whe re baby cucumbers\, known as Qukes\, are grown in high-tech greenhouses an d distributed across Australia.
  • Barden Farms\, Peats Ridge &ndash\; specialists in hydroponic herbs and Asian vegetables\, distributed nationwide.

This hands-on experience connects to l earning across Science and Technology\, Geography\, PDHPE\, English\, and Maths\, giving students the opportunity to explore real-world farming oper ations and sustainable food production.

On return to school in the a fternoon\, students will have the chance to learn from a \;loc al chicken farmer\, Karen\, from Kantandra Farm. Due to biosecuri ty reasons\, we can&rsquo\;t visit the farm\, but \;Karen will visit the school to show a short video of their farming operatio ns and talk about their work and the chicken industry.

A huge thank you to each of these three farms for opening their operations to us and sh aring some real world learning with our students.
