Swimming Carnival Information

The swimming carnival is a compulsory school da y\; however\, participation in swimming events is not compulsory. Students 9 years and older\, who do not wish to swim\, will attend the carnival an d support their peers.

Parents a nd carers are welcome to attend as spectators. Please note that the pool c harges a spectator entry fee of $3.80\, payable on entry.

Students who are turning 8 years old this year a re eligible to compete. If your child is turning 8 and not competing\, the y will remain at school with supervising staff and students for a regular school day.

Due to the full prog ram of events\, there will be no novelty races or games. However\, student s will have access to activities such as football\, basketball\, and handb all throughout the day.

Parents are advised to bring their own chair\, as the grandstand is reserved for students and part of the grassed area will be used by the Multistage Unit. There is limited space on the grassed area if you wish to bring a small p op-up tent or quick shade.

Whi le swimming is not compulsory\, please inform your child’s class teacher if you do not wish your child to participate in swimming events.

Please note that the small infant pool will not be available to students on the day due to supervision constrain ts.

Zone Carnival Qual ification
Students who p lace 1st or 2nd overall in:

    their 50m Freestyle age event\, or

  • the 100m Frees tyle\, 50m Breaststroke\, 50m Butterfly\, or 50m Backstroke for their age group may qualify to represent the school at the Zone Carnival later in Te rm 1\, provided qualifying times are met.

  • 8\, 9\, and 10-year-olds compete as one junior age group fo r all events except the 50m Freestyle.

  • Junior and Senior Relay teams will be selected from the fastest four boys and girls based on 50m Freestyle times at the carnival.
