A backup field has been confirmed at Narranga Public S chool\, which is a 3-minute drive from ARW Forsyth Park. If there is a cha nge\, families will be notified via SMS.

Accommodation for mos t players has been arranged by our office staff at the Panorama Motel in B athurst for the Monday and Tuesday nights (information has been emailed to families for these\, other families have been contacted about alternate a rrangements). On Friday the 7th of February\, 2025 we will be holding our annual School Swimmin g Carnival at Kempsey Pool.  \;All students who in 2025 are in years 3 -6 should attend on the day\, along with any children in year 2 who are tu rning 8 in 2025 and can confidently swim at least 50m in any stroke.

Events and Structure

On the day\, students will have the opportunit y to participate in a range of competitive swimming races and non-competit ive novelty events. Please note\, competitors will be required to demonstr ate safe swim techniques using freestyle and breaststroke before being eli gible to compete in other competitive events\, including backstroke\, butt erfly and the individual medley. Students participating in some of the pla nned novelty events will be required to complete a short swim safety asses sment which includes the following elements:

If your child does not wish to undertake the swim safety assessment\, or is a non-swimmer\, t hey will be able to participate in activities in the shallower pool.

Stage 3 Excursion – Great Aussie Bush Camp

Term 3\, Week 4\, Monday 11th – Wednesday 13th Au gust 2025

This year we are excited to give our Year 5 and 6 students the opportunity to attend our Stage 3 excursion to the Gre at Aussie Bush Camp near Tea Gardens. This is an incredible centre\, where students will have the chance to step out of their comfort zones in a hug e range of action-packed activities while learning skills to develop their independence and teamwork.

Attending students will travel via bus\, departing from Kempsey East at approximately 8:00am on Monday the 11t h of August\, and return to school at approximately 4:00pm on Wednes day the 13th of August 2025.

Cost

Th e final cost of the camp is $435.00\, which includes all activities\, meal s\, accommodation and transport. To discuss payment plans or possible stud ent assistance options\, please contact the front office.

Num bers

Please note\, we have a limited number of 50 places for Stage 3 students. To secure your child position\, a non-refundable deposi t of $100 is required\, along with completion of the Expression of Interes t form below. After these places are filled\, additional students may be p laced on a reserve list.

Behaviour

Due to the n ature of the activities involved in the camp\, students will need to demon strate high degrees of positive behaviour to be able to attend camp. Stude nts with an ongoing pattern of unsafe\, inappropriate or unacceptable beha viour in the lead up to camp may be ineligible to attend. We will work wit h students and families to support if any concerns arise.

Kempsey East Public School has registered and paid for our 6 student leaders to attend the Primary GRIP Student Leadership Conference in Port M acquarie on Wednesday 21st of May 2025. This conference will be a great support tool for our students to enhance their leadership across the school and community. The goal of the day is for our student leaders t o leave the conference with a clear vision\, a solid understanding and doz ens of ideas for their time as a leader. \;


Students will need to be at Th e Port Macquarie Panthers club at 8:45am. A member of the school staff wil l be attending with students and is able to assist with transport. Please indicate below if you would like staff to transport your child or if you w ill take them. \;


If your child is travelling with school staff\, they wil l need to be at school by 7:45am on the Wednesday morning. The day conclud es at Panthers at 2:15pm. We will be aiming to be back at school by 3:00pm \, ready for regular pick ups. \;

What to bring:& nbsp\;Students must wear their school uniform to school with appropriate f ootwear\, bring a bag with their lunch\, extra snacks\, water bottle\, jum per\, long pants\, makeup in a zip lock or makeup bag and a hairbrush. Stu dents require a robe\, long cardigan or zipper jumper to cover their costu me. \;

Venue: The Glasshouse\, Por t Macquarie


 \;Date: 17th June

Rehearsal time: 2:20pm outside The Glasshouse on the steps. We will leave school at 1:15pm to all ow time for travel\, parking and ensure we are ready to enter The Stagedoo r. Students will leave school in their costumes (please ensure they have c lothing to cover their costumes and no eating while wearing them). At the end of rehearsals\, at approximately 3:45pm\, all students are to be colle cted by parents/carers. Your child will stay with you until 6:30pm. Please meet Miss Westerman and staff back outside the Glasshouse steps at 6:30pm . Please ensure hair and make up it touched up and students have had dinne r. They will need to bring a drink and snacks with them. We will enter the Glasshouse through the Stagedoor around 7pm and get ready for the show to begin at 8pm. It will conclude about 9pm and we will meet you near the Gl assdoor to be collected. Please ensure your child’s name is marked off.& nbsp\;

If possible\, have hair and make up done prior to school and we will tou ch this up that morning and before the show. On arrival to school\, studen t will come to the School Hall to have hair and makeup done. \; If you can assist with hair and makeup before we depart\, we would ap preciate some help from 10:30am. Our revised date for the Athletics Carnival is Wednesday the 18t h \;of June 2025\, we will be holding our annual School Athletic s carnival at Service Cub Park. All students\, Kindergarten to Year 6\, sh ould attend on the day.

The 5/6 Dance group will remain at school after the 3:15 pm bell. We will ensure students are dressed and have their hair and makeu p done (we would love some help from 1:30pm if you can assist). We will ha ve snacks prior to leaving school. Students are to be collected from schoo l prior to 3:30pm and meet at the Glasshouse steps at 4:30pm. We will ente r the Glasshouse at 5pm and the show begins at 6:30pm. It will conclude at around 9pm. \;


All volunteers MUST complete a Digital Declaration.  \;If you wish to volunteer\, please complete the volunteer question and a Digital D eclaration form will be sent to you for completion.  \;


What to bring: \;Students must wear their school uniform to school wi th appropriate footwear\, bring a bag with their lunch\, extra snacks\, wa ter bottle\, jumper\, long pants\, makeup in a zip lock or makeup bag and a hairbrush. Students require a robe\, long cardigan or zipper jumper to c over their costume. \;

On Tuesday August 5th\, 2025 students in our Choir group will travel to Melville High School to rehearse for the Macle ay Public Schools Music Festival.

Students will meet Mrs. Byrne at Melville at 10.00am a nd will conclude around 1.45pm.


Students will need to wea r full school uniform and bring a drink bottle\, recess and lunch for the day.

This year we are excited to give our Year 3 and 4 students the opportunity to attend our Stage 2 excursion to the Coffs Coast Adventure Centre near Coffs Harbour. This is an incred ible centre\, where students will have the chance to step out of their com fort zones in a huge range of action-packed activities while learning skil ls to develop their independence and teamwork.

Attending students wil l travel via bus\, departing from Kempsey East at approximately 8:00am on Monday the 8th of September\, and return to school at approximately 3:00pm on Tuesday 9th of September 2025.

Cost

The final cost of the camp is $235.00\, which includes all activities\, meals\, accommodatio n and transport. To discuss payment plans or possible student assistance o ptions\, please contact your child’s class teacher or the front office.< /p>

Numbers

Please note\, we have a limited number of 45 places for Stage 2 students. To secure your child position\, a depos it of $100is required\, along with completion of the Expression of Interes t form below. After these places are filled\, additional students may be p laced on a reserve list.

Behaviour

Due to the n ature of the activities involved in the camp\, students will need to demon strate high degrees of positive behaviour to be able to attend camp. Stude nts with an ongoing pattern of unsafe\, inappropriate or unacceptable beha viour in the lead up to camp may be ineligible to attend. We will work wit h students and families to support if any concerns arise.

On Wednesday 15th October\, 2025 students in our Choir group will travel to Melville High School to rehearse for the M acleay Public Schools Music Festival.


Transport to and fr om the event will be via parent transport. Please indicate if you are able to transport your child on the day. If you have arranged for your child t o be transported by another parent\, please send a dojo message to Alisia Byrne.


Students will meet Mrs. Byrne at Melville at 10.00 am and will conclude around 1.45pm.


Students will need to wear full school uniform and bring a drink bottle\, recess and lunch for the day.

We are excited to announce that we will be holding a School Fun Run this year! Our goal is to raise much-needed funds leading up to the event to support reward days\, wellbei ng programs and our breakfast club\, with a target of raising $10\,000. We kindly ask all families to pitch in and help us reach this goal.

The event will take place on Friday\, 26th September\, at 1:45 pm at our school. Families are warmly invited to join us for the fun on the day.

What is the School Fun Run?

It is an online fundraising p rogram\, where all families go home and create their own online profile. Y ou then choose your target prizes and work towards hitting your fundraisin g goal!  \;In your profile you will have a unique cyber safe link to s hare with your family and friends to donate to get you close to your targe t.


What powder is used?

Colour Me Coloured powder i s termed as a “neat” product by the toxicology risk assessment report. This ensures that the Powder can be used for public events without hazard s to environment. The School Fun Run Team confirm that their product meets EU safety\, health and environmental requirements. It is a natural produc t derived from a plant base.


What do we need you to do?

All we need you to do this week is create an online profile at funrun .com.au. The class with the most profiles by the 5th of September will all get an icy pole! \;

Also\, in the second week of our campaign\, keep an eye out for the Wristband Competition for a chance to win a $500 Prize Credit!

The intensiv e Swimming Scheme is a two week swimming scheme which builds water confide nce\, improves stroke efficiency\, and teaches essential water safety and survival skills. It is designed for non-swimmers to intermediate swimmers.  \;It is aimed at Years 2 &\; 3 students however we have a few spo ts for children in Year 4 who fit this criteria.  \;There are only 12 places available to our Year 4 students so it will be first to give permis sion and payment that will secure their place.

It is highly recommend ed that eligible students attend\, especially those that are not able to c onfidently swim 50 metres. (For those competent swimmers\, they will be ca tered for in stroke correction and fitness.)  \; We did not have many students at our swimming carnival who were able swim 50 metres in this age group\, so would encourage all students to participate.

All Children will be expected to attend all 10 days. Children who are sick and cannot attend swimming should not be at school.  \;No refunds will be given f or missed days.

LESSONS WILL STILL GO AHEAD IF IT'\;S RAINING SO B E PREPARED EACH DAY.

 \;There are limited spaces that will be all ocated to the first students who return their permission note and payment in full. \;

As a celebration for a great year of learning an d growth\, we would like to invite all of our Years 3-6 students to our en d of year pool day on Monday the 15th of December. Students wil l travel to and from the Kempsey Pool by bus\, departing from Kempsey East at 9:30am\, and returning at approximately 2:15pm.

Events and Structure

On the day\, students will have the opportunity to partic ipate in a range of structured water play and novelty events. \;A light afternoon tea of pizza will be provided once we return f rom the pool (this has kindly been donated by Birdie &\; Basil and the P&\;C. Unfortunately\, dietary requirements are unable to be met for th is excursion. If your child is unable to eat these foods\, please ensure t hey bring their own packed afternoon tea).


Students will be required to c omplete a short swim safety assessment which includes the following elemen ts before beginning water play activities:

  • Safe pool entry
  • 15m swim in any recognisable stroke< /span>
  • Float or tread water for 30 seconds
  • Call for help
  • Safe pool exit

A special part of our farewell is a presentation containing student photos from Kindergarten through to Year 6 . If you child was not enrolled at KEPS in Kindergarten\, it would be grea tly appreciated if you could source a suitable photo (ideally a school por trait\, or clear front-on photo) which can be shared with the school. Phot os can either be sent into school to be scanned\, or can be sent digitally to Mr Kelly through Class Dojo. All photos will be required by Friday the 5th of December to be included in the presentation. If your child did att end KEPS in Kindergarten\, we have already got their photos.

2026 KEPS Swimming Carnival

On Friday the 6th of February\, 2026 we will be holding our annual School Swimmin g Carnival at Kempsey Pool.  \;All students who in 2026 are in years 3 -6 should attend on the day\, along with any children in year 2 who are tu rning 8 in 2026 and can confidently swim at least 50m in any stroke.

Students will travel to and from the Kempsey pool by bus (children must meet at school to have their names marked off the roll).

Events and Structure

On the day \, students will have the opportunity to participate in a range of competi tive swimming races and non-competitive novelty events. Please note\, comp etitors will be required to demonstrate safe swim techniques using freesty le and breaststroke before being eligible to compete in other competitive events\, including backstroke\, butterfly and the individual medley. Stude nts participating in some of the planned novelty events will be required t o complete a short swim safety assessment which includes the following ele ments:

  • Safe pool entry
  • 15m swim in any recognisable str oke
  • Float or tread water for 30 seconds
  • Call for help
  • Safe pool exit

If your child does not wish to undertake the swim safety assessment\, or is a non-swimmer\, they will be able to participate in act ivities in the shallower pool.

Cost: \; $3.64 for pool entry – paid via the SchoolBytes app. Students who are not swimming are also r equired to pay this entry fee. Please note\, this will not be refunded if your child is absent on the day.
 \;Non-Student Spectators: \;Parents/carers/family spectator entry cost is $1 each - this is to be paid direct to the pool on entry.

We are pleased to confirm that Luke Kennedy\, a prominent Australian motivational speaker\, author\, and mental health advocate\, w ill be our keynote guest speaker. Luke will deliver a 70-minute presentati on\, followed by a 20-minute question and answer session with students. Th e day will commence at 10:00am to allow sufficient travel time for visitin g schools.

Representatives from the Air Force Cadets will also be attending. They will present to students and bring along cadets who were recently recognised as young achievers at the Australia Day Awards. Their session will include interactive\, hands- on activities for students.

In addition\, two local tradespeople will share their personal journeys — f rom their schooling years in Kempsey\, through completing their trade qual ifications\, to establishing their own businesses. This will provide stude nts with practical insights into local career pathways and opportunities.< /p>

Your child has expressed an interest in participating in Dance Festival this year.

The Dance Fes tival is a wonderful opportunity for students to engage in a non-competiti ve dance experience and develop their confidence and performance skills in a supportive environment. This year\, we are having a Year 5/6 dance grou p. \;

Participation in this event requires commitment to rehears als and performance night/s\, and there are some associated costs. Parents /carers are responsible for transporting their child to and from rehearsal s and performances at The Glasshouse\, Port Macquarie.

Dates : Rehearsals and performances will take place from Monday 15th to Thursday 18th June 2026. Our school's specific performance date/s will be confirmed closer to the event. In previous years\, this has involved one afternoon for the rehearsal and the performance on the same evening\, unle ss the group qualifies for the Showcase Performance\, which will be held o n the Thursday night (18th June).

Cost:& nbsp\;$60\, which includes the costume (yours to keep)\, some basic makeup and hair products and a USB recording of the performance. \;

In addition to the $60\, female students will need to purchase a black leota rd and black bike shorts. Male students will need to purchase black shorts . Dance stockings may also be required for both girls and boys and I will confirm this closer to the date.  \;

Stage 2 Excursion – Bonn y Hills

Term 2\, Week 10\, Thursday 25th – Friday 26th June 2026

This year we a re excited to give our Year 3 and 4 students the opportunity to attend our Stage 2 excursion to the Bonny Hills\, staying at the Francis Retreat. Th is camp is an incredible opportunities for students to step out of their c omfort zones\, experience new things\, and build their independence.

Similar to 2025\, this camp will be combined with Stage 2 students and sta ff from Smithtown Public School and is a lovely way to help build lasting friendships across the Macleay.

Attending students will travel via bu s\, departing from Kempsey East at approximately 9:30am on Thursday 25th o f June\, and return to school at approximately 2:30pm on Friday the 26th o f June\, 2026.

  • Beach games at Bonny Hills

The majority of meals are included. Students will need to bring their own morning tea and lunch for the first day only.

Please note\, we have a limited number of 36 places for S tage 2 students. To secure your child's position\, a non-refundable dep osit of $100.00 is required\, along with completion of the Expression of I nterest form below by Friday 27th March 2026. Behaviour

Due to the nature of the activi ties involved in the camp\, students will need to demonstrate high degrees of positive behaviour to be able to attend camp. Students with an ongoing pattern of unsafe\, inappropriate or unacceptable behaviour in the lead u p to camp may be ineligible to attend. We will work with students and fami lies to support if any concerns arise.

On the day\, students will participate in engaging science and maths challenges\, involving construction\, experimentation\, design and g roup work. In the past this has been an excellent day\, which gives studen ts the opportunity to experience new things through hands-on means.


Due to high demand from other local schools\, we have a very re stricted number of students who are able to attend on the day. This 4 week program will run on Tuesday mornings at Kempsey East from 26th of May until the 16th of June\, from 8 :15-9:00am.
