On Tuesday 12 November\, Year 6 students will be attending t he Surf Life Saving School Surf Safe Program at Collaroy Beach. The Surf S afe Program is run by surf life savers. It includes recognising safe swimm ing areas\, responding to danger in the surf and understanding how rips an d tides affect swimming conditions. It is an important learning experience for students of all swimming experience.
As students will be outsid e for most of the day\, they will be given breaks to reapply sunscreen. Al though teachers will be supervising and reminding students about sunscreen \, please ensure your child can personally apply their own sunscreen to av oid getting sun burnt.
We are excited to celebrate the end of primary school with o ur Year 6 students and invite them to attend the Year 6 Farewell on Tuesda y 17th December 2024 from 6.00pm to 9.45pm. Students are invited to arrive from 5.45pm.
Drop Off:
Students w ill enter the RSL club through the old reception entrance where a teacher will meet and escort them to the function room. The old reception entrance can be accessed via the first driveway on the left after the roundabout t o the main entrance. Parents are encouraged to park in the main car park a nd walk their child/ren to the old reception entrance.
Pick Up:
Parents are asked to collect their child fro m the old reception entrance at the following times:
6A\, 6B and 6C – 9.45pm
6D and 6L – 9.50pm
6M and 6R – 9.55pm
A two-course alternate menu and unlimited soft drink will be serve d on the night by the venue. If your child has any additional dietary requ irements please communicate this by filling in the dietary requirement sec tions of the permission note to ensure alternative catering can be arrange d.
In keeping with the concept of an enjoyable evening fo r Year 6 students\, we suggest wearing:
• a dress\, skirt and top or pants and a collared shirt
• comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for dancing
Photos will be taken throughout the night and a link made available to parents of Year 6 students only to access. The link will be made available via Seesaw and School Bytes. \;
Students are NOT \;to bring mobile phones or oth er personal digital devices to the Year 6 Farewell. In line with our schoo l implementation procedure\, if a student brings a mobile phone or persona l digital device\, it will be confiscated for the evening by a deputy prin cipal and returned to the student’s parent/carer at the conclusion of th e event.
Students are expected to remain at school until 3:00pm\, on the day of the farewell. Any student who leaves on this day be fore 3:00pm will be marked as partially absent – unjustified.
Permission and payment MU ST be received by Friday 22 November for your child to attend.

On Wednesday 30 October\, students will travel to North Rock s Public School at 10.30am. On arrival\, the students will deliver their p repared debate. Afterwards\, students will be invited to enjoy some light refreshments before returning to CHPS for 1.30pm.
Stage 2 students have been stud ying &lsquo\;Physical World&rsquo\; in science lessons this semester. They have been learning about how forces effect an object&rsquo\;s motion. &nb sp\;
To further enhance and build stude nts&rsquo\; practical understanding about forces\, an incursion hosted by Kaleidoscope Science has been organised for students to attend. \;
During this incursion\, students will lear n about the push and pull forces\, motion and energy through entertaining live demonstrations.

High school week commences in Week 8 (2 December to 6 Decemb er) and is an opportunity for our Year 6 students to experience a taste of what high school might be like in 2025 in a safe and supportive environme nt.
Our Year 6 teachers have planned a wide range of lessons and act ivities including English\, digital media\, mathematics\, science\, visual arts\, business studies and ancient history.
Students will remain i n class groups and each student will receive a timetable. Each day\, they will engage in a series of lessons\, each taught by a different Year 6 tea cher in a different classroom.
Organisation and responsibility play an integral part in the success of high school week as we encourage greate r independence and responsibility for learning. Students will have an oppo rtunity to further develop positive study routines with tasks for completi on being set on a daily basis.
High school presents many new challen ges and exciting opportunities for our students and as a school\, we are c ommitted to ensuring that the transition to high school is a smooth one.

bsp\;being carried out on the new building \;is in its final phases\,
and it is \;anticipated \;that our school will move into the new b
uilding\, I Block\, in Term 1 2025. Given that our Year 6 students will be
transitioning to high school\, we would like to \;provide an opportun
ity for \;the \;students \;to tour the new facility.
During the tour\, \;the build team will share \;an
overview of the construction process as well as learn about the \;dif
ferent roles \;that each member of the build team occupies.
Prior to entering the site\, a safety briefing will be deli vered to students which is in line with all health and safety plans. All s tudents will be issued with a high visibility vest as well as a hard hat. Students will be visiting the ground floor of I block ONLY. \;
Students will be visiting the site across 2 days: Monday 9th an d Tuesday 10th \;December and will be accompanied by 3 teachers. The duration of t he tour is 1 hour. \;
Parents who wish for their chi ld to \;participate \;in the I block tour are asked to \;indic ate \;this via \;the permission note attached. \;
Families who give consent for their child\, will be issued with a me dia release form. This will allow the build team to take some photos while the students are visiting. \; \;

All 3-6 students are expected to attend and participate in t he Cross Country Carnival. The back up date in case of wet weather is Tues day 8 April 2025. \;
The buses will depart CHPS promp tly at 9.00am and students are expected to be at school by 8.45am for roll s to be marked. We will be returning to school by approximately 2.30pm.
Students will walk the course and then will participate in their age race completing the distance to the best of their ability. In ea ch event\, the first 6 place-getters in each age division will attend the Zone Cross Country on Thursday 15 May 2025\, at Masonic Oval Baulkham Hill s.
Parents are more than welcome to attend on the day how ever are asked to remain in the spectators section.

This semester\, Stage 1 stud ents have been learning about Aboriginal culture and connections to Countr y in Geography. To complement learning\, students will be given the opport unity to attend the Field of Mars Environmental Education Centre on Tuesda y 13th May (Year 2) and Thursday 15th May (Year 1).
On a bushwalk th rough Lane Cove National Park\, students will explore the connections Daru g people have to Country through various activities and storytelling. Stud ents will learn about how Country provides various resources including too ls\, weapons\, food\, medicines as well as learning the many ways we can c are for Country. \;

To complement learning\, students will be given the opport unity to attend the Field of Mars Environmental Education Centre on Tuesda y 13th May (Year 2) and Thursday 15th May (Year 1).

The Year 6 students will be goi ng to Castle Hill High School on Tuesday 27 May 2025 as part of our link w ith the local high school. Our students will be given the opportunity to w atch 'SpongeBob the Musical' being performed by the high school students.< /p>
Students will assemble at 9:30am and walk from Castle Hill Public Sc hool to the high school and return to our school by 1:00pm. This event wil l go ahead regardless of the weather so please ensure your child comes pre pared.
The Year 6 teachers will supervise the students as they walk to and from the high school and whilst at the event. All teachers attendin g have emergency care and CPR training.

Earlier this year our student leadership team attended the ‘National Young Leaders Day’ conference at the ICC. \;
There was an opportunity to win a free whole school dance-wellbeing workshop. O ur team entered and won! This workshop is run by Dance Curriculum\, a prog ram that provides world-class dance curriculum to Primary Schools around t he world.
Dance Curriculum will come to our school and conduct dance sessions for our students! Each grade will have a session throughout the day to complete this workshop.
On Wednesday 11 June\, students will travel to Sherwood Ridg e Public School at 10.20am. On arrival\, the students will deliver their p repared debate. Afterwards\, students will be invited to enjoy some light refreshments before returning to CHPS for 1.30pm.
The annual Athletics Carnival for Years 3 to 6 will be held on Tuesday 24 June\, 2025 at Gooden Reserve\, Baulkham Hills. Travel to and from the venue will be by bus.
All students must be at school b y 8.45am for rolls to be marked. Buses will leave promptly at 9.00am an d return by 3.00pm.
The 1500m and 800m events will be held the morni ng of the carnival. The 1500m event will be at 8:00am and the 800m event w ill be at 9:00am. Please complete the form below if you wish for your chil d to compete in one or both events. Parents will have to transport their c hild to the field for these events.

Arrangements have been made to include a learn to swim progr am in our school curriculum for Year 2 students.
The Department of E ducation and Communities School Swimming and Water Safety Program is an in tensive learn to swim program\, which develops water confidence and provid es students with basic skills in water safety and survival. The Program is conducted over ten days. Each daily lesson is 40 minutes.
If your c hild has not reached a satisfactory standard of water safety and survival skills and are unable to swim 25m confidently unaided with correct techniq ue in deep water\, they are eligible to participate in the School Swimming and Water Safety Program.
Students attending must be able to dry th emselves\, dress in school uniform and pack their bags.
Instruction will take place in the indoor pool at Castle Hill Fitness and Aquatic Cent re - 77 Castle St\, Castle Hill.
The Program will continue daily (du ring school hours) for two weeks from Monday 3 November to Friday 14 Novem ber 2025. The costs involved are for bus transport\, swimming instruction and pool entry into the swimming centre. The cost for the Swim Program has been heavily subsidised by Castle Hill Public School and the Department o f Education School Sport Unit.
Showcase is returning to Castle Hill Public School this year after an absence of several years due to both COVID restrictions and then the school building program.
Showcase involves all Stage 2 students performing two shows on the same evening.
The Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) Showcase performance times are:

On this day\, students are required to go home at 3.00pm and need to return in costume to school by 4.00pm. \;

K-2 Students will engage in various tabloid sports activitie s.

Students at this school partic ipate in excursions to enhance and support the school curriculum. Kinderga rten classes will be going on an excursion to Calmsley Hill City Farm on T hursday 4 December.
The excursion has been planned in alignment with the Term 2 science unit ‘Living Things’. The unit of work explores an imals and plants. Students have learnt how we look after them as well as h ow they support us. The cost of the incursion includes transport\, entry t o the farm\, a tractor ride and an ice-block.
We will be taking the parent helpers who had volunteered and been confirmed for the Term 2 farm excursion that was cancelled due to bad weather. These parents have been c ontacted by the school office. \;
