Early Stage One Excursion - Calmsley Hill City Farm.
We have organised an excursion to Hazelhurst Art Gallery\, Gymea on& nbsp\;Thursday\, 11th June 2026\, as part of our Creative Arts syllabus fo r Stage 2. Students will take a guided tour to spark creative conversation s\, join in short activities and create art inspired by the exhibits. < p dir=\"ltr\">Students need to wear their normal school uniform and should arrive promptly at school by 9:05am with a hat\, lunch\, afternoon tea an d drink bottle in a small backpack. Stage 1 students are going on an excursion to the Early Start Discov ery Space at the University of Wollongong. We are participating in the STE M program &lsquo\;Bricks and Clicks&rsquo\;. Description of event: Our whole school will be a ttending the annual Athletics Carnival at Sylvania Waters Athletics Track\ , a fun and active day for all students. Students aged 8&ndash\;13 years w ill compete in a range of traditional athletics events. Students in Kinder garten to 7 years of age (it is the age they are turning this year even if they haven'\;t had their birthday yet. \;E.g if your chil d is currently 7 but they will turn 8 in December\, they need to be doing all of the 8 year old events) \, will take part in a variety of a ge appropriate athletics style games and activities. In addition\, all stu dents from Kindergarten to 7 years will participate in a 100m race with th eir age group. Kindergarten and Year 1 students return to school at approx imately 12:00pm.

Year 2 Swim Scheme \; Arrangements have been made to incl ude a learn to swim program in our school curriculum. Selected students will represent our school at the Engadine Zone Athletics Carnival. Competitors have qualified through our school ath letics carnival and will compete against students from schools across the Engadine Zone in a range of track and field events. Swimming and Water Safety Program
Arrangements have be en made to include a learn to swim program in our school curriculum. The D epartment of Education School Swimming and Water Safety Program is an inte nsive learn to swim program\, which develops water confidence and provides students with basic skills in water safety and survival. The program is c onducted over 5 days and each daily lesson goes for 50 minutes. The progra m is taught by Department of Education teachers who all hold learn to swim qualifications.
Each year\, students in year 6 are invited to attend school camp for 3 days and 2 nights. We will be visiting Canberra and go to place s such as Parliament House\, the War Memorial\, Questacon and the Australi an Institute of Sport. This camp is designed to support the learning withi n the Year 6 history unit of work which is focused on democracy and how Au stralian parliament works.
The Year 6 camp to Canberra is in Week 5 of Term 1 2025 (Wed 26th-Fri 28th February) and has been arrang ed by Away We Go Tours.
More information regarding activi ties\, an itinerary\, medical consent forms\, departure times\, packing li sts\, etc\, will be sent home later in term 4. Students will have multiple camp meetings with staff to answer any questions they may have.

We&rsquo\;re inviting the grandparents of our students to ou r special Grandfriends Day event on Thursday\, 31st October fro m 9-11:30am. This event is intended for children and their grandparents/st ep-grandparents or a special Grandfriend only as our space is limited. Thi s event is NOT for parents\, however we understand if you need to attend to physically support a grandparent. \;
The even t will commence at 9am where we will serve complementary \;scones with jam and cream as well as tea and coffee to our visitors. \;Please note that scones and tea/coffee are for Grandfriend s only\, NOT students. Please fill in the order form on School By tes indicating how many scones you would like to order for catering purpos es. Only one form per family will be sent out.
An a ssembly will follow at 9:30am with some special performances including all three dance groups\, choir and both the performing and training band. Thi s will be followed by open classrooms to visit grandchildren. \;
Our annual book fair will run in the library from 8:30am until 11:30am\, where a range of Scholastic books can be purchased\, priced between $10-$4 0. Students without Grandfriends attending will be able to visit the book fair after our visitors leave. \;
Grandfriends are welcome to st ay for recess with their grandchildren in the playground. The canteen will also be open for the opportunity to purchase morning tea treats for both students and Grandfriends. \;
Dance students need to come to sch ool dressed in their costume. Their school uniform needs to be packed in t heir bag to change into after the performance. Band members must bring the ir band instruments to the 4G classrooms when they arrive at school. \ ;

Next year our Year 5 student s have the opportunity to take part in an overnight camp at Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation Centre\, Narrabeen. Students will depart on Monda y 26 May at 8:30am and will return on Tuesday 27 May 3.05pm. We will be tr avelling by a coach fitted with seatbelts.
In preparation for the Ye ar 5 Camp we have attached an important document which is to be completed and returned to school\, please return it to your child&rsquo\;s classroom teacher.
Included in this package are the following documents:

Student Health Condition Report \;&ndas h\; this is a form issued by NSW Department of Education and is required i f your child has a health condition which may require support at school or when your child is involved in school activities\, for example\, a school camp.Please complete the attached form Request for sup port at school of a student&rsquo\;s health condition\, base d on information provided by your medical practitioner (you may wish to di scuss the information required with your medical practitioner) and return it to your classroom teacher.
The form includes a Reques t for administering prescribed medication to the student and Request for o ther support. If your child is likely to require Panadol it must be included on the request for administering prescribed medication fo rm and supplied with a printed label (with the child&rsquo\;s name) from a medical practitioner. Staff can only administer medication previously lis ted on a Health Care Plan held by the school\, included on the attached fo rms and in original packaging with a printed label with the students detai ls.
Please note: \;All famili es will be required to register your child via the online registration for m provided by the Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation Centre (the link to access this will be available for you next year). It will ask you to pr ovide information such as medical conditions\, dietary requirements and em ergency contact details.

We are aware some childr en may be feeling worried about the prospect of staying overnight. In the past\, we have found that regular discussions to answer q uestions can help to address common concerns. Our Years 2-6 Swimming Carnival is to be held at Engadine Leisure Centre on Tuesday 18th February.
Carnival cost is $23.00 which includes bus fare\, pool entry\, hire of the Engadine Swimmin g Club’s starting system and carnival booking fare. Total payment to Eng adine Leisure Centre will be processed and paid by the school. Parents and caregivers are welcome to attend the Swimming Carnival\, however they mus t provide their own transport to and from the event and will be charged $3 .00 per person entry fee by Engadine Leisure Centre upon arrival (the pool is a cashless facility and will accept EFTPOS only). There will be no acc ess to a canteen so students need not bring money on the day.
The bu s will leave Marton PS at 8:30 am and return before 3.00 pm.
Our car nival is for students who turn 8 or over in 2025. \;
This year\, our carnival will include swimming events for competitive swimmers wantin g to compete at the Engadine Zone Swimming Carnival\, developing swimmers who can participate in 25m novelty events with the use of provided swimmin g aids e.g. a kickboard\, noodle etc. *Please note students are NOT permit ted to bring their own swimming aid\, as equipment will be provided by the school. The carnival will also provide some alternate land based activiti es for non-swimmers. \;

National Young Leaders Day (NYLD) is an event held in variou s cities across Australia\, including Sydney\, that aims to inspire and em power young people by showcasing positive leadership examples. It typicall y brings together thousands of high school students\, leaders\, and role m odels for a day of engaging talks\, activities\, and workshops. The event is designed to encourage leadership skills\, resilience\, and a sense of p urpose in the next generation. Attendees hear from motivational speakers\, successful leaders from various fields\, and learn about personal develop ment and how to make a positive impact in their communities.
NYLD is often organised by the Young Leaders Foundation\, and it offers a platfor m for young people to connect with their peers\, gain new insights\, and b e inspired to take on leadership roles in their schools\, communities\, an d beyond.
Zone Swimming Carnival
The Zone carnival will be held at Engadine Leisure Centre on Tuesday 4th March. The carnival is from 8.45 am – 2.30 pm. Students will need to be at school by 7:55 am in the play ground to meet Mrs Hodgson and Mr Anderson. Buses will be leaving school a t 8:05 am and returning to school at the completion of the carnival at app roximately 3.00 pm. Students who attend the carnival are expected to swim in their event\, students are not permitted to attend the carnival just to support other swimmers.
On our excursion\, students go on a journey through the Roya l National Park to make their own Wombat Stew by following the trail of so me of the characters from the story. They will have opportunities to engag e in hands-on activities to learn about the characteristics of living thin gs and foster respect for the natural world.
Basketball Gala Day
Our school is par ticipating in the Engadine Zone Basketball Gala Day at Sutherland Basketba ll Centre against other schools in the Engadine Zone. You are receiving th is permission note as your child has completed the expression of interest form for the Gala Day. Students will need to be at school by 7:50 am in th e playground to meet Mrs Hodgson and Mr Anderson. Buses will be leaving sc hool at 8:00 am and returning to school at the completion of the carnival at approximately 3.10 pm.

As an introduction to our geography learning\, Stage 2 will be exploring and investigating natural habitats and learning about physica l features and characteristics of the environments. This investigation of a local environment (Royal National Park) supports the lives of people and other living things and how it provides habitats for native animals.
< br>Venue/sThe Living Safely with Pets program will be delivered to Mar ton Public School on Wednesday\, 4th June\, and to primary schools through out NSW. It targets students in grades K to 2 and educates children on wha t it means to be a responsible pet owner and how to live safely with dogs. Pet educators and their suitability-tested dogs will visit Marton to pres ent the program. Presentations are delivered using multimedia tools\, role -play\, song\, and storytelling. Schools are given complimentary education al resources and teaching tool packages. The Program is free < /em>of charge and teaches students about how to stay safe around dogs and what it means to be a responsible pet owner in the home and broad er community\, including: \;

● things we should not do to dogs \;
● how can you tel l if a dog is happy\, frightened or angry \;
● a safe way to a pproach and greet a dog

During Reconciliation week we welcome back Nyumbar (family-o wned and run Aboriginal Cultural Education business). Students will partic ipate in the Jagen Program where all students will gain a deeper understan ding of the local Aboriginal history of the land on which our school stand s. The program offers insights into traditional foods\, resources\, plants \, animals\, and waterways\, enriching our knowledge and appreciation of t he unique heritage of our area.

Our whole school will be attend ing the annual Athletics Carnival at Sylvania Waters Athletics Track\, a f un and active day for all students. Students aged 8–13 years will compet e in a range of traditional athletics events. Students in Kindergarten to 7 years of age\, will take part in a variety of age appropriate athletics style games and activities. In addition\, all students from Kindergarten t o 7 years will participate in a 100m race with their class or age group. K indergarten and Year 1 students return to school at approximately 12:30 pm . \;
This is a fantastic opportunity for all students to be invo lved\, stay active\, and show school spirit.
Our Drama Students have been selected to perform in the Into the Spotlight Drama Festival on Wednesday\, 6 August\ , at Campbelltown Arts Centre. \;
Travel to and from the centre will be provided by parents. There are two performanc es on the evening. 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm and 7:45 pm-8:45 pm. Students are req uired to attend both performances. The students can leave after the second performance at 9:00 pm. Parents can purchase tickets to the performances. Year 2 SCHOOL SWIMMIN G and WATER SAFETY PROGRAM 2025 Information
Arrangements ha ve been made to include a learn to swim program in our school curriculum. The Department of Education School Swimming and Water Safety Program is an intensive learn to swim program\, which develops water confidence and pro vides students with basic skills in water safety and survival. The program is conducted over 5 days and each daily lesson goes for 50 minutes. The p rogram is taught by Department of Education teachers who all hold learn to swim qualifications.
Instruction will take place at Engadine Leisur e Centre pool. This is an outdoor\, heated pool. As instruction takes plac e in an outdoor pool\, it is recommended that students use adequate sun pr otection\, eg. an SPF 30+ broad spectrum\, water-resistant sun screen reap plied regularly\; a rash shirt is also recommended (pool facility permitti ng).
The Program will continue daily for 5 days in Week 9 of Term 3 from Monday 15th September to Friday 19th September. Students will be leav ing school at 12pm and returning before the end of school.
The total cost for the 5-day program\, including transport\, is $90.

To support our creative arts and physical educat ion programs\, Marton Public School is taking part in a two-week dance pro gram run by Dance Curriculum. Students from K-6 will participate in an eng aging and inclusive dance program that caters for all dancing abilities an d develops hip hop\, improvisation and creative movement skills.
These dance sessions will happen during class time and run for ar ound 30-40 minutes. Students do not need to bring or wear anything other t han their school uniform. They can wear their sports shoes on these days i f preferred. They will perform what they have learnt for the community at a culminating showcase and at the Christmas Markets.
The final Friday\, 24th October\, will conclude with a whole schoo l performance showcase where parents are invited to come and watch these d ances. More information regarding times will be sent soon. \;

We are excited to share that our Eco Warriors \;will have the wonderful opportunity to participate in planting a micro-forest&n bsp\;at Lantana Reserve\, in partnership with Sutherland Shire Council. Th is important environmental project involves planting native trees that sup port koalas and their habitat.
This excursion will build on students ' learning about biodiversity \;and the role they can play in caring f or our natural environment. It’s a fantastic way for students to connect with nature \;and make a meaningful contribution to their community.< /p>

We’re inviting the grandpa rents of our students to our special Grandfriends Day event on Thursday\, 30th October from 12:45 to 3:05pm. This event is intended for children and their grandparents/step-grandparents or a special Grandfriend only as our space is limited. We do understand if a parent/carer is needed to attend to physically support a grandparent.
The event will commence at 12:4 5pm where we will serve complimentary scones with jam and cream as well as tea and coffee to our visitors. Please note that scones and tea/coffee ar e for Grandfriends only\, NOT students. Please fill in th e order form on School Bytes indicating how many scones you would like to order for catering purposes. Only one form per family will be sent out.
\;Grandfriends are welcome to stay for afternoon tea with their g randchildren in the playground. The canteen will also be open for the oppo rtunity to purchase afternoon tea treats for both students and grandfriend s. The book fair will be open during afternoon tea break where a range of Scholastic books can be purchased\, priced between $10-$40. Students witho ut grandfriends attending will be able to visit the book fair at alternate times. \;
An assembly will follow afternoon tea at approximatel y 2pm with a special performance from all classes. (Don’t worry parents\ , the students will be performing their dances at the Christmas Markets al so\, so you won’t miss out!) This will be followed by open classrooms to visit grandchildren.

Our Years 2-6 Swimming Carnival is to be held at Engadine Leisure Centre on Tuesday 17th February.
Carnival cost is $23.00 which includes bus fare\, pool entry\, hire of the Engadine Swimming Clu b&rsquo\;s starting system and carnival booking fare. Total payment to Eng adine Leisure Centre will be processed and paid by the school. Parents and caregivers are welcome to attend the Swimming Carnival\, however they mus t provide their own transport to and from the event and will be charged $3 .00 per person entry fee by Engadine Leisure Centre upon arrival (the pool is a cashless facility and will accept EFTPOS only). There will be no acc ess to a canteen\, unless with a parent\, so students need not bring money on the day.
The bus will leave Marton PS at 9.00 am and return befo re 3.00 pm. Students MUST be at school no later than 8:40am. \;
This carnival is for all stude nts who are 8 and over. If your child is turning 8 in year 2\, they are in vited to attend our carnival. All students in years 3-6 are expected to attend the swimmi ng carnival.

Congratulations\, your child\, through their per formances at the Marton Public School Swimming Carnival\, has qualified to compete at the Engadine Zone Swimming Championships. \;
The Zon e carnival will be held at Engadine Leisure Centre on Tuesday 3rd March. & nbsp\;The carnival is from 8.30 am – 2.30 pm. \;Students will need to be at school by 7:40 am in the playground to meet Mrs Borg and Mr Grant . Buses will be leaving school at 8:00 am and returning to school at the c ompletion of the carnival at approximately 3.00 pm. All competitors are ex pected to travel to this event on the team bus. Parents may choose to sign their child out at the carnival during the day but all students must arri ve on the school bus. This is to ensure everyone is present and accounted for. Students who attend the carnival are expected to swim in their event\ , students are not permitted to attend the carnival just to support other swimmers. \;
The cost for the carnival is $27 which includes car nival entry and bus travel. A Marton PS swimming cap will be provided for students to use on the day and return to Mr Anderson after all their event s are finished. As mentioned earlier this year\, your child has been chosen t o represent Marton PS\, showing High Potential Gifted Education in the soc ial emotional domain. This event takes place once a term at Waterfall Publ ic School. K-6 students will engage in Explicit teaching of social and emo tional skills (focusing on teamwork\, resilience\, emotional intelligence\ , and leadership)\, through Peer-led activities (where high school student s\, trained as mentors\, will facilitate engaging\, structured learning ex periences). We will provide them with opportunities for collaboration and reflection (allowing students to apply and refine their skills in real-wor ld scenarios). \;

Your child has trialled and been selected to play in the upc oming touch football knockout match to be held in Week 2\, Tue sday 28th of April at 9:40am at Endeavour Sports high (5 Sports). Please a rrive at 9:10am to warm up and prepare for the match. \;
This will be a competitive match\, with the winner advancing to the next round of the competition.
\;All students will need to bri ng their own boots/running shoes for the match. Students need to wear full school uniform\, however a jersey will also be provided for them to wear prior to the match. \;
PLEASE NOTE: Students will be driven to the match by their carer or another carer involved in the team. This will be communicated to students and carers by Mr Grant or Mrs Linds ay.
The Living Safely with Pets program will be deli vered to Marton Public School on \;Monday\, 4th \;May\, \;and to primary schools throughout NSW. It targets students in grades K to 2 an d educates children on what it means to be a responsible pet owner and how to live safely with dogs.
Pet educators and their suita bility-tested dogs will visit Marton to present the program. Presentations are delivered using multimedia tools\, role-play\, song\, and storytellin g. Schools are given complimentary educational resources and teaching tool packages.
The Program is free of charge and teaches stu dents about how to stay safe around dogs and what it means to be a respons ible pet owner in the home and broader community\, including:
when dogs should be left alone
things we should not do to dogs
how can you tell if a dog is happy\, frightened or angr y
a safe way to approach and greet a dog
what to do if approached by a n unknown or aggressive dog
Stage 3 students will participate in a leadershi p training program. This incursion is part of our Personal Development pro gram and is a great opportunity for our students to focus on ways of becom ing a positive influencer in our community and develop their social- emoti onal skills. Due to rising bus prices\, taking the train has been chosen to minimise costs greatly. Other local schools will be catching the train as well.&nb sp\;
We will catch the train from Engadine to Sutherland and walk do wn to Sutherland Basketball Stadium. At 2:30 we will walk back up to Suthe rland Train Station and catch the next available train back to Engadine. W e will arrive back at Engadine Station at approximately 3:00pm.
Mr G rant will stay with students at Engadine Station main entrance until they are picked up by carers or students may start walking home at 3:05 if they have carer
permission to walk home. Please select which option your child will be doing later in the note so Mr Grant knows if students are b eing picked up and by who or if they are walking home from the station.

Year 5 students have the opp ortunity to take part in an overnight camp at Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation Centre\, Narrabeen. Students will depart on Monday 4 May at 9.0 0 am and will return on Tuesday 5 May 2.30pm. We will be travelling by a c oach fitted with seatbelts.
Our online registration cut-off date falls just before\, during\, or immediately after the school holidays.
To avo id complications\, we strongly recommend that all registrations be complet ed prior to the end of Term\, where possible. \;Please note that late registrations will incur an administration fee charged by the camp.

The form includes a Request for administerin g prescribed medication to the student and Request for other support< /strong>. If your child is likely to require Panadol it must be included o n the request for administering prescribed medication form and supplied wi th a printed label (with the child’s name) from a medical practitioner. Staff can only administer medication previously listed on a Health Care Pl an held by the school\, included on the attached forms and in original pac kaging with a printed label with the students details.
P lease note: \;All families will be required to register your child via the online registration form provided by the Sydne y Academy of Sport and Recreation Centre (the link to access this will be available for you next year). It will ask you to provide information such as medical conditions\, dietary requirements and emergency contact details .
Please advise the school\, at any time\, if there are changes in t he information about your child’s health care needs or if we can assist you in any way.
We are aware some children may be feeling worried ab out the prospect of staying overnight. We understand\, and your child’s Year 5 teacher will support students through regular ‘Camp Chats’ whic h include question time and discussions. In the past\, we have found that regular discussions to answer questions can help to address common concern s. \;

Congratulations\, your child will represent Mart on Public School at the Engadine Zone Cross Country on Friday 8th May\, at Heathcote Oval\, Heathcote.
We have a strong Marton Public School t eam of 64 representatives. All competitors will be travelling to and from the carnival via bus.The bus will depart school at 8.10am. Once all school s arrive\, (approx. 9.00am)\, students will walk the course. Events will c ommence at approximately 9.30am. Students who attend the carnival are expe cted to run in their event and represent Marton Public School with pride.& nbsp\;
Runners will be competing in their Marton sports uniform and spikes are not allowed to be worn in this cross country running. < em>A reminder to children who suffer from asthma that they will need to ru n with their asthma puffer. \;The supervising teachers w ill bring any individual medication that is at school. All competitors mus t wear their school hats\, bring water\, recess and lunch.

Nyumbar (family-owned and run Aboriginal Cultural Education business) will be coming back to Marton Public School for an exciting new learning experience\, the Bamaboomahla Program. Students will discuss and learn about the different Aboriginal art styles throughout Australia and t he materials used. Students will look at different Aboriginal art symbols\ , their importance and why symbols look the way they do. Students will hav e the opportunity to create their own unique artwork on a wooden circular disc\, incorporating the symbols they learned during the incursion\, somet hing they can proudly take home as a meaningful keepsake from their learni ng experience. As mentioned earlier this year\, your child has been chosen t o represent Marton PS\, showing High Potential Gifted Education in the soc ial emotional domain. This event takes place once a term at Waterfall Publ ic School. K-6 students will engage in Explicit teaching of social and emo tional skills (focusing on teamwork\, resilience\, emotional intelligence\ , and leadership)\, through Peer-led activities (where high school student s\, trained as mentors\, will facilitate engaging\, structured learning ex periences). We will provide them with opportunities for collaboration and reflection (allowing students to apply and refine their skills in real-wor ld scenarios). \;
