During the Year 11 examination period\, students are permitted to stay home two days before their scheduled exam to allow time for study and preparation.
They are expected to come to school on the days that are NOT a study day or an exam day. On these days\, they will join another cla ss. \;
On the day of their exam\, students are expected to attend school for the scheduled examination session. Once their exam is completed\, students may go home to continue their study for upcoming exams. Students have th e option to: \;

Studies of Religion 1 unit students will travel by train wit h their teacher to Town Hall from Canley Vale Station. The class will part icipate in a guided tour of both St Mary's Cathedral and The Great Synagog ue with opportunities to discuss HSC content with a local Rabbi.
One game of bowling will be purchased by the students on arrival at a cost of $7 each. If purchasing lunch\, students should bring a maximum of $20 to cover foo d costs.

The University of Sydney Future Focus workshop aims to suppo rt the fresh \;Year 12 students of class 2026 by equipping them with the knowledge\, skills\, and confidence needed to succeed in their senior studies and beyond. Through this interactive session\, students will devel op effective study habits\, HSC success\, and wellbeing strategies while a lso gaining insights into diverse pathways into university and post-school opportunities. The workshop will further guide students in understanding the scholarship application process\, helping them identify and access fin ancial support for their future education. This incursion provides student s with early exposure to tertiary expectations and opportunities\, encoura ging them to set informed goals\, engage with their learning\, and take ac tive steps towards achieving their academic and career aspirations.

An introduction to the UNSW Gateway Program which students m ay continue to follow through to Year 12. Students discover how personal v alues influence decision-making and create pathways to future careers and areas of study. \;
Designed to motivate Year 11 students to explore university pathways through academic enrichment\, university insights\, and HSC prepa ration. In this specific Leaders Program\, students will gain leadership e xperience through the Gateway Program's activities leadership and academic masterclasses. This will allow students to develop more advanced leadersh ip skills.
To participate in an immersion experience in the Japanese la nguage and culture. Visiting students will participate in a range of activ ities\, practising and developing their language skills.

To participate in the CVHS Junior Athletics Carnival
Students from Year 11 \;will participate in Round 1 of the Premier's Debating Challenge on the topic of Australian Society. The Y ear 8 Debate Team will act at timekeepers\, chair and observers. \;
Students in the Opens and Under 15s Boys Basketball Team wil l be participating in a structured and routine practice every morning. Stu dents in the Open'\;s Basketball Team will be attending sessions on Mon day and Thursday mornings. The Under 15s will be attending sessions on Tue sday and Friday mornings. Wednesday will be the combined training for both teams. These training sessions will occur every week unless informed othe rwise. \;
These training sessions are vital for students to deve
lop leadership\, comradeship and the necessary basketball skills to compet

The CVHS volleyball team will be representing CVHS the Volle yball NSW Schools Cup competition. This event provides students with the o pportunity to represent their school in a high-level interschool sporting competition organised by Volleyball NSW.
The Volleyball NSW Schools Cup will serve as the culmination of t heir efforts and provides a meaningful opportunity for students to apply t he skills they have developed in a competitive environment.
For many of the students involved\, particula rly those in Year 12\, this competition will be their final volleyball eve nt representing the school before they retire from the team and shift thei r full focus towards preparing for their HSC examinations. Case study analysis is a key component of this course and equates to 20% of their HSC exam result.

Students will participate in a community access excursion to Westfield Liverpool where they will complete a grocery shopping task\, de veloping practical life skills such as using money\, following a shopping list\, making simple choices\, and navigating a public environment. During this activity\, students will build communication skills by asking for as sistance and interacting appropriately with others\, while also strengthen ing social skills such as turn-taking\, waiting patiently\, and respecting personal space. The experience supports increased independence\, problem- solving\, and confidence in real-world settings\, as well as an understand ing of safe and appropriate behaviour in the community.
The purpose of White Card training for VET (Vocational Educa tion and Training) in Construction is to provide students with the fundame ntal knowledge and awareness of workplace health and safety (WHS) requirem ents specific to the construction industry. The training ensures that stud ents understand how to identify hazards\, manage risks\, and follow safety procedures on construction sites to prevent accidents and injuries.

Students conduct fieldwork around Minnamurra River’s river ine ecosystem to help them understand earth’s natural systems and biophy sical interactions. Through their investigations they will uncover interac tions between the biosphere\, hydrosphere\, lithosphere and atmosphere. Th ey will also gain a new understanding of land cover change and human impac ts on the functioning of Minnamurra river catchment as a natural system.
PLEASE NOTE: This excursion involves kayaking and requires students to demonstrate they can tread water in a life jacket for a coupl e of minutes on the day (as per the new Department guidelines). I have my water safety training and the EEC staff who are running it also have water safety training.
The purpose of White Card training for VET (Vocational Educa tion and Training) in Construction is to provide students with the fundame ntal knowledge and awareness of workplace health and safety (WHS) requirem ents specific to the construction industry. The training ensures that stud ents understand how to identify hazards\, manage risks\, and follow safety procedures on construction sites to prevent accidents and injuries.
Venue/sThe Year 10 Future Focus excursion aims to introduce student s to a wide range of post-school pathways\, helping them explore their int erests\, strengths\, and potential career directions before making senior subject and study choices. Through interactive activities\, campus experie nces\, and conversations with university staff\, students will develop an understanding of how different fields of study connect to careers\, identi fy personal goals\, and begin building the skills and confidence needed to make informed decisions for Years 11 and 12. The excursion encourages cur iosity\, self-reflection\, and engagement with learning as a foundation fo r future academic and career success.
The Future Focus program runs for selected students over yea rs 10-12. It aims to prepare students to transition more easily and equip them with knowledge on higher education. Students explore post-school path ways\, including university courses\, careers\, and employability skills. Students will engage in mentoring\, participate in trial tutorials in thei r field of interest\, and learn about applying for scholarships and the My Sydney scheme. The excursion provides first-hand experience of campus life \, encourages reflection on personal strengths and goals\, and supports in formed planning for further study or work.
As The Tempest is a prescribed HSC text for Advanced English students\, this program provides an in-depth exploration of the play thro ugh extended live performances of selected scenes accompanied by expert co mmentary from Damien Ryan and his team. The session examines Shakespeare ’s use of language\, characterisation\, and thematic development through multiple interpretations of key moments. Students develop practical skill s in textual and critical analysis and gain professional insights into the play’s dramatic structure and performance considerations.
Year 12 Advanced English s tudents will attend the Student Sessions program\, a full-day series of St age 6 syllabus-aligned discussions.
