Your child has been invited to participate in the Red Ball T ennis Todd Woodbridge Regional Finals to be held at the South Wagga Tennis Club on Friday\, 25 October 2024. They will play in mixed teams of 4 boys and 4 girls\, playing boys and girls doubles matches and mixed doubles ma tches.
Red Ball is a modified game of tennis played on smaller court s with smaller racquets and low-compression balls. The competition is part of the state-wide Todd Woodbridge Cup and the winners from the Regional F inal will go on to play at the State Final in Sydney.

Students turning 8 to 13 in 2025 are expected to attend the annual school swimming carnival\, as this is a school day and part of the curriculum. Please call Louise Purss-Semple to discuss this\, if necessary . Students in Year 2 (only those turning 8 in 2025)\, who are classified a s strong\, capable swimmers and can compete in 50m races are eligible to a ttend the swimming carnival. There will not be any 25m races for Year 2 st udents\, only 50m races.
Kindergarten\, Year 1 and remaining Year 2 students will attend school as usual.
Students can enter only the 50 m OR 25m freestyle\, plus the 100m freestyle and/or medley. Please discuss this with your children so they understand. Students need to pre-enter th eir events for the day. Students who swim in the 50m races will be eligibl e to qualify for placement in the Southern Riverina (zone) carnival. Child ren enter in the age group that they turn this calendar year. The Southern Riverina Swimming Carnival will also be held at the Lavington Swim Centre on Friday 28 February 2025\, for those students who qualify to attend.&nb sp\;
PLEASE NOTE: Changes to travel arrangements must be made in wri ting prior to the carnival. If your child is being picked up from the pool by someone not attending the carnival for the day\, please ensure they ar e at the pool by 1:30 p.m. in case the carnival finishes early.

Your child has been selected to trial at the Southern Riveri na PSSA AFL trials to be held at Billabong High School on Tuesday 4 March. The trials will involve fitness aspects and football drills to display pl ayer skills. \;A parent\, guardian or teacher is required to supervis e students to and from the venue. The Eastern Riverina Carnival will be he ld on Tuesday March 11th\, Wagga Wagga Venue: Bolton Park. Students must b e available to attend this carnival if they nominate for the Southern Rive rina Trials.
Year 6 have been given the opportunity to purchase a special shirt for their last year of primary school. It will include the school e mblem\, their name and the names of their classmates. It can be worn as pa rt of the school uniform\, except on formal days.
The students have selected the style shirt and the design for the back of the shirt. The ini tial cost of the shirt is $52\, however the students will be doing some fu ndraising at school to help lower this cost. We will be holding the fundra ising in the next couple of weeks so will not know the final cost until th en. To get the process started\, we will need a deposit of $20 for the fir st shirt that you wish to order\, with the balance of deposits for any ext ra shirts\, to be charged to your SchoolBytes account\, and payment will b e required before the extra shirts are finalised.

This year\, our school Cross-Country carnival will be held a t the school oval on Friday\, April 4 (Term 1\, Week 10). All children fro m Kindergarten to Year 6 are involved.
The carnival will commence at approximately 12:00pm with a walk around the course. Races will begin as soon as the teachers judge everyone to be ready.
Students will need to bring their own water bottle\, with plenty of water to drink.
Hou se colours may be worn. (Macke llar &ndash\; green\,&n bsp\;Paterson - red\, Lawson &ndash\; blue) Face paint and similar products are n ot to be used at the carnival.

A tentative boo king has been made for students in Years 5 and 6 to experience various act ivities at Sovereign Hill in Ballarat\, with accommodation being provided by the Sovereign Hill Lodge from Wednesday\, 26 November to Friday\, 28 No vember.
The excursion aims to allow students to consolidate their le arning of history in Australia during the gold mining era. \;In addit ion to these valuable experiences that build on their learning in the clas sroom\, students will have the opportunity to develop positive relationshi ps with their peers through the experience of the excursion.
The tot al cost of this 3-day excursion will be $455\, which incl udes accommodation\, food\, admission fee &\; activities. The school wi ll subsidise bus travel. Final payments of $355 will be d ue by 27 October. \;

Your child has been invited to participate in the AFL/Netbal l/Boccia Gala day at Yerong Creek to be held on Friday 29 August 2025\, wi th the backup date on Monday 1 September\, 2025. This gala day is about en couraging participation and sportsmanship and is thoroughly enjoyed by our students each year. Students will be playing AFL\, netball or Boccia agai nst other teams in the Southern Riverina PSSA district in a round robin fo rmat. The gala day will be held at the Yerong Creek Recreation Ground. Par ents are very welcome to come and cheer on their children and help out on the day. A bus has been booked for the day. It will depart school at 8.30a m sharp \;and return to school by3.00pm in time for a fternoon buses.
Throughout the day\, we need parents to help with go al umpiring\, scoring and supervising teams. If you can assist on the day\ , please indicate on the reply slip. Your child has been selected for o ur school cricket team to compete in the Riverina Semi-Final of the PSSA C ricket Knockout on Friday 24 October 2025 at the Holbrook Sporting complex .
Your child is invited to participate in a colour fun run fun draiser\, that is being organised for all students from Kinder to Year 6 o n Thursday 20 November\, 2025. A course will be set up on the school oval\ , which will include some obstacles and tasks to complete\, and the studen ts will also be sprayed with water and colour powder. Students will be sea ted in groups around the oval to watch the other groups and will run a few laps of the course in their class group.
The colour powder used in the event is non-toxic\, biodegradable and environmentally friendly consis ting of 98% corn starch and 2% food colouring. It will likely washout of y our child&rsquo\;s clothing\, however it is recommended that the students wear a plain white or light shirt that you don&rsquo\;t mind being coloure d. Students are also encouraged to wear some bright\, funky accessories wh ile completing the course. The staff will do their best to throw the powde r at the torso\, however wind and other factors can cause the powder to pr otrude on the face. You may wish for your child to bring their own eye pro tection\, such as sunglasses or goggles. \;Sunglasses and head bands will be available for sale at $4.00 each on the day.
Based on the toxicology profiles of the powders used\, their concentration s in the formulation and the mode of use\, the colour powder is considered safe for use. Students with lung issues\, such as asthma\, are advised to be careful in their decision to participate.

Student will need to bring a change of c lothes that they can change into before going home on buses. Please also i nclude a towel and bag that the coloured clothed can be carried home in.
As this event is a fundraiser for various projects\, including a mura l for the school\, students need to gain sponsors to participate in the fu n run. For every $10 raised\, they will receive a ticket into the draw for a couple of prizes of sporting equipment. Each child will receive a spons or form to start collecting their sponsors. Payment can be collected at th e time of sponsoring or sponsors can make a payment online through the sch ool website. All money must be returned to school by Friday 14 November to be eligible to go into the draw for the prizes. The tickets will be drawn on the day\, at the conclusion of the colour run.

Students turning 8 to 13 in 2026 are expected to attend the annual school swimming carnival\, as this is a school day and part of the curriculum. Please call Louise Purss-Semple to discuss this\, if necessary . Students in Year 2 (only those turning 8 in 2026)\, who are classified a s strong\, capable swimmers and can compete in 50m races are eligible to a ttend the swimming carnival. There will not be any 25m races for Year 2 st udents\, only 50m races.
Kindergarten\, Year 1 and remaining Year 2 students will attend school as usual.
Students can enter only the 50 m OR 25m (Yr 3-6 only) freestyle\, plus the 100m freestyle and/or medley. Please discuss this with your children so they understand. The team managers on the day will be Mr Heath Quinn (Jindera Public School). All children are to report to Mr Quinn when they arrive on the day. You MUST \;< /strong>wear a mouthguard while tackling and complete the Permission to Pl ay Rugby League consent form in the School Bytes parent portal.

trials will be from 9.30am to 2.30pm.
There will not b
e any cost for the day.
Travel will be by private car\, which w
ill need to be arranged by each \;family.

ge.
Students will need to wear shorts\, training jumper/
training shirt\, football boots\, runners and a mouthguard. \;They will also need to bring lunch\, snacks\, \;drink bottle.

General information
The course is fla
t and is set on the Murrumbidgee River Flats and racecourse.
Representative selection - the first 6 placed students will gain selection in the 2025 Riverina PSSA team. This team will attend the NSW < strong>PSSA All Schools Cross country at Sydney International Equestrian C entre on Wednesday 22 July 2026.
After each race\, runners
finishing 1st to 3rd positions will receive Riverina Certificates.
All
competitors will receive a finishing card place position as a memento of t
heir participation.
The area for zone teams will be clearly marked.
There are ample toilet facilities in the immediate assemble/spectator fini
sh area.
First Aid facilities will be available on site.
Please do n
ot attend if you are unwell to ensure the safety of all students\, staff\,
and spectators at this event.

Just a reminder that they must have sleeves\, a broa d brimmed hat and sensible covered shoes.
We are asking for fami lies to donate blue themed cupcakes that the SRC can sell on Friday for $2 each. \;
If you are able to donate some cupcakes\, plea se fill out the note and return to school by Friday 8 May.
The SRC will run some activities at long lunch\, such as a lolly guessing competition\, mini basketball coin toss\, mini golf and number lotto that students can enter for $1 per turn. There will also be a colouring competi tion running over the next week. Winners will be announced on the day.
Students will also be participating in some discussions and activities on kindness. We look forward to some fun and great discussions about kindn ess in the coming weeks.

Your child has been invited to participate in the Schools Cu p Netball gala day to be held at J.C King Park Albury on Tuesday\, 19 May 2026. The day is open to students in Years 5 and 6. They will play in mixe d teams.
Holbrook Public School will need to supply a minimum of two umpires for the day. If you can fulfil this role\, please indicate on the permission note.

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST &\; DEPOSIT FOR EXCURSION
A tentative booking has been made for students in Years 3 and 4 to experienc e various physical activities and team building exercises at the Howman 9\;s Gap Alpine Discovery Camp at Falls Creek\, Victoria. \;
The excursion aims to support learning in our Personal Development\, Health a nd Physical Education curriculum. In addition to these valuable experience s to build on their learning in the classroom\, students will have the opp ortunity to develop positive relationships with their peers through the ex perience of the excursion.
The total cost of the three day a nd two night excursion to Howman'\;s Gap is $390.00. The excursion is f rom Wednesday 4 November to Friday 6 November.
Ther e is a nonrefundable deposit of $100.00 which is due on Friday 5 June.&nbs p\;
The balance of $290.00 is due Tuesday 1 Septemb er in Term 3. \;
