Due to the Crossroads Zone Swimming Carnival being held earl y in the year\, we hold our school swimming carnival at the end of the pre vious year. \;The cost of the carnival is being subsidised by the sch ool.
All students Years 2 – 6\, regardless of their swimmi ng ability will be attending. \;The carnival will run both competitive and novelty events throughout the day.& nbsp\;
Year 1 students who turn 8 in 2025 (born 2017) are also invited to attend but they m ust be able to swim 50m confidently and in the correct stroke. Th ese Year 1 students will participate in the competitive part of the carniv al and then the novelty events.

, parents can take their own children from the pool. If you wish to take y

The Mini EV Challenge Race day is on Wednesday the 27th &nbs p\;November 2024 and will be held at the Tighes Hill TAFE grounds in Newca stle.
This event will provide an opportunity for students from the S tage 3 STEM group to participate in a solar car challenge against students from schools across the Hunter.
All cars and boats participating in the competition are to be scrutineered on race day before the race begins . Presentation of awards will be held at the close of the event. The event will be held south oval 1 as seen on the map. There will be a canteen ava ilable for you to purchase food and beverages on the day.
Students w ill be required to make their own way to and from the venue and will be su pervised by teacher\, Carly Phillips.

Australia is a free classroom program for Australian teachers and students
in years 1-10 that provides foundational Artificial Intelligence (AI) lit
eracy. In an increasingly AI-powered world\, understanding what AI is\, ho
w it works\, its risks and benefits is vital for Australia students and th
eir teachers.
Originally developed by MIT\, the Day of AI Australia
program is tailored to the local context and national curriculum with exp
ert partners including UNSW and CSIRO. Day of AI is a full day of interact
ive lessons designed to be taught by any teacher and includes lessons on e
thics and responsible use of AI\; large language models and chatbots\; as
well as a challenge for students which has them apply their new knowledge
and skills to a real world problem. \;
This year\, they are working with the University of Newc astle to provide Classroom Champions to select government schools to deliv er the program with the school'\;s classroom teacher. \;

Objective: Help s tudents understand the importance of habitat diversity and how small actio ns can support local wildlife.
Each student creates a &ldquo\;mini h abitat&rdquo\; by filling egg carton cups with soil and planting native se eds.

Activity 3: Biodiversity Detectives &ndas h\; City of Newcastle
Objective: Encourage curiosity and ob servation of local ecosystems.
Students go on a short walk near the creek and \;try to spot or listen for signs of species listed on the Detective Sheet.
The Touch Football Gala for Stage 3 which was postponed earl ier in the term has been rescheduled for Thursday 25 September 2025.
The NSW Touch Football Primary School Gala Day Events is a non-co mpetitive event\, FREE of charge\, encouraging the development of the sport of Touch Football. The emphasis \;is on participation and fun\; there is a place on the field for everyone.
Duration of the ga mes will be fifteen minutes (15)\; there will be no half-time periods duri ng the games. The Mini EV Challenge Race day is on Wednesday 17 September\ , 2025 and will be held at the Tighes Hill TAFE grounds in Newcastle.
< p>This event will provide an opportunity for students from the Stage 3 STE M group to participate in a solar car challenge against students from scho ols across the Hunter. The students have been building and designing the & nbsp\;cars at school \;All solar cars \;participating in t he competition are to be scrutineered on race day before the race begins. Presentation of awards will be held at the close of the event. The event w ill be held south oval 1 as seen on the map. There will be a canteen avail able for you to purchase food and beverages on the day.

Classes KP\, KM\, 1D and 1/2SD are looking forward to going on an excursion to Blackbutt Reserve\, Carnley Avenue site. As part of the ir work this year\, the students have been learning about the topic ‘Liv ing Things’ and their habitats. Blackbutt is able to offer learning expe riences to add greater insight for the students as well as learning about different types of environments.
The students will travel to Blackbu tt by coach and then engage in 2 main activities. There will be a creature encounter and the opportunities to create a shelter for a particular anim al. These activities will involve Blackbutt rangers as well as the teacher s and students. There will also be time to visit the koalas and do the boa rdwalk activities.
Students in 3/6F have been given the opportunity to attend a Multisport day. \;
The day will allow students to participate in a number of different sports under the guidance of professional coaches and teachers.

The Come-and-Try Athletics day\, give students the opportuni ty to experience athletics\, in an enjoyable\, non-competitive setting.
Students have the chance to participate in a variety of races on the t rack\, as well as in field events.
These days are inclusive of all s tudents with disability. Formal sporting classification is not required to attend these days.
The event is held on the 25th of March from 10:0 0am - 2pm. Students will be transported from school to the Fearnley Dawes Athletics Centre via minibus. The excursion is free of charge. Students wi ll need a packed lunch and recess. As well as a hat\, water bottle and goo d running shoes. \;
Please note it is also school photo day. 36H will have their individual and class photos before leaving for the excurs ion. \;
