Details: This excursion will support the
learning in our Geography unit this term. Our students will be immersed in
the diversity and wonder of Asian culture as they learn and discover the
history and importance of Australia&rsquo\;s connections with Asia. Studen
ts will discuss and describe the diverse features and characteristics of p
laces and environments and think critically about the economic\, demograph
ic and social differences between Australia and the countries of the Asia
region. As they observe the distinct architecture and foods throughout the

In Week 2\, Year 3 students will be going on an excursion to Taronga Zoo. This excursion will compliment our English unit on how our u nderstanding of narratives help us understand the world. We will be attend ing a workshop where we will listen to and explore Dreaming Stories about animals and how they are used to pass on knowledge and skills.
The North Sydney RSL sub-branch has made a special invitatio n to our school leaders to attend the Remembrance Day Ceremony on Tuesday 11 November at 10.30am at the War Memorial at Ridge St\, North Sydney and lay a wreath. Mrs Nicole Henderson will accompany the students and walk to the Ridge St Memorial from school leaving at 10am.
This year at Anzac Park\, all students from Kindergarten to
Year 6 will have the opportunity to participate in a specialist dance prog

of our Term 4 PDHPE program and will culminate in all students participati
ng in a whole school dance performance as part of our summer Mountain Top

In Weeks 9 and 10 of this term\, Year 2 students will be par ticipating in a Swim Scheme program. The Department of Education School Sw imming and Water Safety Program is an intensive learn to swim program\, wh ich develops water confidence and provides students with basic skills in w ater safety and survival. \;
The Program is conducted over nine days\, with each daily lesson lasting 45 minutes. All students\, regardles s of swimming ability\, will be able to participate. Please note - student s will be assessed during the School Swimming and Water Safety Program for all water safety skills without wearing goggles. \;
The classes will depart from school at staggered times during the day from Monday to Friday throughout Week 9 (Monday 8th of December - Friday 12th of December ) and Week 10 (Monday 15th of December - Thursday 18th December).
Th e students attending will be supervised by the Year 2 staff. All staff mem bers in attendance are currently trained in the provision of CPR. The scho ol and the program instructors will also provide the flotation devices to students who may require assistance in the water.
Please note that a ll attending students are required to participate in Swim Scheme. Any stud ents not given permission will remain at school.
The previously postponed excursion to explore the world of s top-motion and 2D animation has been rescheduled. During this exciting pro gram\, students will draw inspiration from nature to create captivating an imations using various digital tools. They will learn about storytelling a nd character design while exploring animation techniques such as stop-moti on\, 2D\, and digital animation with iPads supplied by the Field of Mars E nvironmental Education Centre. This experience is perfect for students who enjoy combining creativity with technology.

The day provides a deep dive into the world of inve
rtebrates\, including ecology\, anatomy\, taxonomy\, and conservation. Stu
dents collaborate with an entomologist to document findings and construct
a mounted model invertebrate.
Activities
The focus of this short walk is for st udents to observe invertebrates in their natural habitats. \;The needs of invertebrates and their role in a bushland environment will be emphasi sed.
Invertebrate investigation
Students will work as entomologists to conduct an investigation of different habitats i n the Field of Mars Reserve.
They will examine their collected speci mens using a range of magnifying devices.
Participants will work wit h an entomologist to explore invertebrate anatomy\, taxonomy\, and conserv ation. They will encounter a range of invertebrates including stick insect s\, burrowing cockroaches\, beetle larvae\, scorpions\, \;huntsmans\, Australian tarantula\, \;centipedes\, isopods\, and crayfish.
Invertebrate anatomy and models
Students will collect invertebrates using a range of fieldwork techniques including pitfall tra ps\, leaf litter digs\, and arboreal vegetation shakes.
Students wil l examine their collected specimens using magnifying devices and record th eir findings in a take-home nature journal.
Based on their observati ons\, students will construct an anatomically correct model of a real or i maginary invertebrate. Students will use a range of materials such as mode lling clay\, plasticine\, or other materials to construct their models.
Upon completion\, students will mount their model in a box frame to ta ke home.
Our 2025 Year 6 cohort is approaching their graduation from primary school. This is\, of course\, a very exciting time! On Wed nesday 17 December\, Year 6 will be having a graduation evening t o celebrate this milestone. \;
STUDENTS TO WEAR: \; Students are invited to wear mufti clothes to school for this whole day (8:30am-6:30pm) but it is recommended that these are clothe s that they don'\;t mind getting wet. \;

Year 5 wi ll be going on their overnight excursion to the Blue Mountains and Bathurs t on Monday 23 March to Wednesday 25 March. During these three days\, stud ents will be completing a range of activities in the Blue Mountains includ ing archery\, bushwalking\, orienteering\, team building\, a visit to Scen ic World and to Bathurst Goldfields.
The total excursion cost is $556.18 which will cover accommodation\, food\, activities and tr avel to and from the campsite.
The $200 deposit for this camp was due last week. The remaining balance is $356.18. Due to the cost of the camp\, there will be no Term 2 excursion.
By con senting to your child attending this excursion\, you are agreeing to pay t he full cost of camp. If you are experiencing financial difficulty\, pleas e contact the school office team to discuss.
Year 5 will depart from Anzac Park Public School at 6:30am on Monday 23 March and ret urn to Anzac Park Public School on Wednesday 25 March at approximately 3:0 0pm.
Travel will be by bus to and from the venues.

Medication
All m edication must be placed in a snap lock bag with their name\, dosage and a dministration time/s clearly stated. This bag must be given to the indicat ed member of executive on the morning of the excursion.

Students need to be at school at 6:00am for a briefing prior to the buses leaving at 6:30am on Monday 23 M arch. Students should eat breakfast before arriving at school. \;
We are due to arrive back to school at 3:00pm on Wednesday 25 March. Ou r arrival time will be dependent upon traffic. We will be in regular conta ct with the school office as we make our way home\, and the office will em ail all parents at 2:00pm on Wednesday to advise if the bus is expected to arrive on time.

Dates and Venue The Athletics Carnival will be held on Wednesday 18th March (Term 1\, Week 8) at Chatswood Rotary War Me morial Athletics Field\, Mowbray Road West\, Lane Cove North. In th e event of rain\, the backup date for this event is \;Wednesday 1 April (Term 1\, Week 10). Information regar ding Track and Field Events The following events will be t aking place on the day: - \;100m race - 200m race - \;hig h jump - \;long jump - \;shot put - \;discus S tudents will be competing in all events on a rotation basis. There will be no grandstand or students sitting in house groups on the day\, so we are able to have full participation rates. Transport The 800m and 1500m race will be the first races of the day. Only strong\, competitive \;runners are a dvised to compete in these races. Students wishing to compete in the 800m and 1500m races are required to indicate their preference in the event per mission. Students wishing to compete in the 800m and 1500m races will need to be driven to the venue by parents or carers and arrive by 8:00am. < br>All other students will catch buses from school on the morning of the c arnival\, leaving promptly at 8:45am. Luggage
Students should only bri ng ONE overnight bag. They will need to carry it\, so please make sure it is not too big or heavy. Please label all clothing\, towels etc with your child'\;s name. \; A sleeping bag is optional and not necessary as all bedding is provided.
On Monday 23 March\, students s hould come to school in comfortable\, casual clothing (e.g. shorts and a t -shirt) with enclosed shoes. Students should pack their formal Summer Unif orm for our visit to Parliament House on Day 2

Medication
All medication must be placed in a snap lock bag with their name\, dosage and administration tim e/s clearly stated. This bag must be given to the indicated member of exec utive on the morning of the excursion.
Travel Sickness
If your child suffers from travel sickness\, please advise one of the t eachers prior to departure.
Travel sickness remedies\, plastic bags\, tissues/wet wipes and a small bottle of water should be included in the student&rsquo\;s carry-on bag\, for use w hen required.
A ccommodation \;will be at Discovery Parks - Canberra (corner Federal Highway &\; 26 Old Well Station Road\, Gungahlin Australian Cap ital Territory 2912).

I am pleased to share that our first knockout game has been drawn\, with Anzac Park PS playing Normanhurst PS at home.
The match will be played at St Leonards Park on Monday 30 March at 12:30pm. \;< /p>
As the game is nearby\, students will walk to and from the event wit h Mr Williams. If you are able to assist in walking with students\, please contact Mr Williams.
In the event of wet weather\, the game will be postponed to a date in Term 2. \;

Year 2 students will be able to participate in a 1km fun run event at the beginning of the carnival.
On the day of the carniv al\, students are to wear their sports uniform\, including running shoes. Students may choose to wear a coloured t-shirt to support their sports hou se. In their school excursion/library bags\, students should bring their r ecess\, a water bottle\, sun cream and their school hat. A towel to sit on is optional. All items should be clearly labelled with your child&rsquo\; s name.
Please Note: Students will NOT be able to purchase a RECESS order from the canteen on this day. We are due to arrive back at school for lunch eating time\, so students may have a lunch order from the canteen as normal.
