Students attending Canobolas Rural Tech High School in 2025 in year 7 will be attending CRTHS \;for a transition program. This pr ogram is happening over two days\, 19th and 20th November 2024. Families a re responsible for transport to and from CRTHS for both days.

This excursion consolidates their learning from school swim ming program\, Royal Life saving water safety incursion and water safety u nit of learning\, covering How to stay safe in and around water\, Personal safety\, Aquatic settings\, Personal survival and rescue safely. Students will have a great time celebrating a year of learning with structured and unstructured swimming activities. Unstructured swimming activities are fr ee swimming activities supervised by teachers. \;
Raging Waters Sydney is NSW’s largest waterpark making it the ultimate destination for summer fun! With over 40 rides\, slides and attractions there is somethin g for everyone to enjoy.

Stages 2 and 3 girls and boys t eams from Glenroi Heights Public School will be participating in Round 1 of the PSSA Soccer Competition< /strong> against Orange East S chools.
The event will take place on Thursday\, 8th o f May\, during Term 2 \, Week 2\, at Orange High School.
Stage 3 students have the opportunity to participate in the Every Step Counts \;program on Monday 12th May at sch ool. This program \;is a wonderful opportunity for our students to le arn about topics such as social media and what is inappropriate social med ia\, respectful relationships\, behaviours that makes you feel sad and unh appy and what respect really looks like in your daily life. Part of this p rogram focuses on reducing "\;violence-supportive"\; attitudes and behaviours\, ensuring that violence is never normalised. Every Step Count s aims to develop a positive and confident self-image and encourages '\ ;good choices'\; for all students who participate. \;
This ye ar there are added discussions around road safety\, specifically passenger safety and speed. This is due to the alarming statistics just released an d the influence of social media.
The presenter is a registered NSW D oE teacher of 49 years&rsquo\; experience and an ex-Principal. He also wor ked for White Ribbon Australia for 6 years\, setting up respectful relatio nships programs nationally. He now works exclusively for the NSW Departmen t of Education. And this program\, in one form or another\, has been runni ng for 15 years in NSW Public Schools and all content is within the Depart ment Of Education syllabi. \;

This is an Indigenous owned and designed program run by ambassadors including Greg Inglis and the Goanna Academy f acilitators. This program will be run in the GHPS Hall throughout the whol e day\, and stage 3 students from Bowen Public School and Orange East Publ ic School will join our school for this event.
When Greg Inglis reti red from professional Rugby league he had a passion to help others by shar ing his story. \;He now shares his mental health journey and the posi tive change that occurred in his life when engaged with the right support. \;The program will focus on connection\, belonging \, self-care and self-esteem. Students will journey into an interactive world of transport in this new exhibition at Orange Regional Museum. Students will also get the oppo rtunity to design their own dream vehicle out of LEGO®\, test their skills flying paper planes\, and fin d out how transport has changed over time\, with plenty of facts to learn along the way. There will also be a science workshop exploring energy and forces and an opportunity to visit the Art Gallery to view the local schoo ls's SPARKE project 'Mighty Minds Mighty Machines!'

GHPS students have been invit ed to attend the Kinross Wolaroi Junior School performance of \"Sally Sell s Seashells\" a new children's musical at the Orange Civic Theatre on Wednesday 17th September. \;
Performed by students in years 5 and 6\, this show is a one-hour performance that is an incredib le opportunity for our students to see and engage with junior theatre perf ormance. \;
Show Theme - \;Sally is a kid con-artist who explodes onto a q uiet beach town with a get-rich-quick seashell-selling-scheme. For a small fee\, she trains the kids on how to sell seashells before the annual summ er festival but plans to skip town with all their \;money befor e the big event! Sally becomes torn after meeting a local\, Tam\, who join s the program eager to help her family. The kids in this little beach town will never be the same as they learn the importance of friendship\, hones ty\, and finding a healthy balance between working hard and having fun.

All Glenroi Heights Public Sc hool students have been invited to proudly take part in the NAIDOC March 2 025. Students will take the bus to and from school and the march will comm ence at 10:30am. All participants will walk along Sale Street\, turning le ft into Summer Street. The march will end at 11am in Robinson Park and the n students will be taking the bus back to school and get to enjoy a sausag e sizzle at school for lunch. \;
If parent/carers wish to take t heir students home after the march they must find their teacher to sign th em out. But we encourage all students to come and enjoy the sausage sizzle at school with their peers and celebrate The Next Generation: Strength\, Vision and Legacy of NAIDOC Week 2025.

This is a wonderful opp ortunity to network with students from other schools and be inspired by th e concepts they have for their school performances. Students are invited to pa rticipate in the GHPS 2026 Cross Country Carnival\, which will be held at the Glenroi Heights North Oval.
Students turning 8 years and older in 2026 will have the opportun ity to compete throughout the day. This event provides a great opportunity for students to showcase their athletic ability\, enjoy friendly competit ion\, and be part of a memorable school event.
We encourage all eligible students to participate and make the most of this exciting da y. Family and community members are also welcome to come along and cheer o n the runners. \; \;

Selected students will be participating in a PSSA touch foot ball game against Orange Public School. The event is an inter-school sport s fixture\, organised as part of the Primary Schools Sports Association (P SSA) competition. It aims to encourage teamwork\, sportsmanship\, and phys ical activity among students in a fun and supportive environment. Players will have the opportunity to represent their school\, develop their skills \, and enjoy a healthy competitive experience with peers from another loca l school.
