Being a member of the Greenway Park School Debating Team\, your child has been selected to p articipate in the Primary Debating Day Workshop on Tuesday 4th March 2025. Debating is part of our Gifted and Talented program and students benefit from being involved in this enrichment activity. The workshop will be host ed by Greenway Park Public School and will be conducted by Anthony Davey. Students are required to be at school prior to 9am to prepare for the work shop. They will be supervised at all times by Mrs Sitta. The day will conc lude by 2:45pm.
Students are required to be in full school uniform a s set out in our uniform policy. They must bring their recess\, lunch\, an d drink for the day. Please approve by Friday 21st February 2025.
Zone Swimming Carnival will be held on Tuesday the 25th of F ebruary 2025. \;
As part of their leadership role at Greenway Park Public Sch ool\, students are invited to attend the GRIP Leadership Conference. This leadership event equips student leaders with the insight\, motivation\, an d skills needed to make a meaningful impact within their school community. \;
Participants will engage in practical workshops\, goal-setti ng activities\, and interactive sessions designed to enhance their leaders hip capabilities. Through this experience\, students will gain valuable st rategies and lifelong skills that empower them to lead with confidence and purpose. \;
Students will travel to the Leadership Conference by bus\, which is equipped with seat belts for safety. They must arrive at school by 7:20 AM to have their names marked off\, as the bus will depart promptly at 7:30 AM. \;
The bus is scheduled to return to Green way Park Public School at \;approximately 3:30 PM. \;
Stude nts will be unable to catch the school bus in the afternoon on this day\, due to arriving back at school at 3.30 PM. Please make alternative arrange ments if necessary.
The cost of the conference is being subsidised b y the school. Therefore the cost to students is only $30.00.
On the day students will have the opportunity to purchase leadership badges. Ther e will be \;many designs to choose from. The cost is $3 each or 2 for $5.

An excursion has been organised for Year 2 students. The act ivity has been planned to support learning in our science unit\, where the y have been learning about forces and energy. Students will have the oppor tunity to explore the fascinating world of forces\, focusing on push and p ull\, through engaging hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations.
During our adventure\, students will participate in exciting experi ments that will help them understand how forces affect the movement of obj ects in our everyday lives. This excursion will not only enhance their lea rning but also encourage teamwork and curiosity.
As part of our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) program \, we are excited to reward students who have demonstrated outstanding beh aviour with a Silent Disco event! This is a fun and engaging experience where students will wea r wireless headphones and dance to music of their choice.
Entry to t he disco is free. \;
The disco will be held over \;t wo days. \;Timetable of grade days and time will be sent out closer to the event.
Students are able to preorder a snack pack for the day.
Snack packs will include - One packet of chips\, one water\, one lollipop and 2 glowstick bangles.

This will help educate students on Australian native mammals and reptile s. This workshop will highlight habitat\, characteristics for survival\, d iet and other interesting facts for each species.

This will be a competitors only event. This means that students are ask ed to participate if they are able to confidently run 2km (2000m). The Schools Cup is a community-base d competition that encourages students to participate and play football in a friendly and supportive environment.
The focus is on good sportsmanship\, healthy competition but most importantly \, having fun!
Schools enter the Schools Cu p through their regional competition and play a round-robin tournament to determine the regional winners. The top teams from the regional competitio ns progress into a Finals tournament at the Wanderers Football Park.

Tournament of Minds (T OM) is an Australian educational program developed for talented and creati ve primary and secondary students. There are two parts to the tournament &ndash\; the long-term challenge and the spontaneous challenge. \; T he team prepares for the long-term challenge at school prior to the tourna ment and present their findings on tournament day. Stud ents that are part of this team will be participating in a \;skill de velopment day at \;Bardia Public School which will teach students the strategies needed to successfully complete the challenging tournament tas ks. \;They will work alongside students from local schools and develo p their problem solving skills. Your child \;Tahlia Dellis \;has been nominated to undertake the position of School Ambassador. In t his role\, your child will network with other school ambassadors from acro ss the Liverpool region. \;
At these events\, students will be i nvolved in exploring and developing leadership skills. School Ambassadors will discuss concerns common to primary aged students and develop and impl ement a project to address these issues. The role will involve regular com munication with staff and students as well as the other ambassadors and me ntors. \;
Projects will be undertaken over a 15 week period. At the end of this period\, each Ambassador Team will present the &lsquo\;jou rney&rsquo\; of their project\, with the local school impact\, at a specia l project presentation event. This is to be held in the Liverpool City Cou ncil Chambers. Final details will be sent out at a later date. As there ar e approximately 30 schools involved in the initiative\, there will be a li mit on the number of seats allocated\, to ensure that all schools are repr esented in the audience. \;

Our Kind ergarten students will have the opportunity to join Harold and his friends Red and Boots as they explore the benefits respectful relationships can h ave on our well being. Students will engage in opportunities to practise s trategies to manage their feelings and emotions. \;
This visit will coincide with our physical education and health module this term of r ecognising and identifying emotions and managing relationships. \;
Students will participate in a series of chess games versus other students from multiple schools at Cabra-Vale Diggers Club (1 Bartley St\, Canley Vale NSW 2166).
Students will play a series of 7 chess games throughout the day.
Trophies are awarded to the top-scoring players and school teams at the end of the tournament.
The top 3 schools for each division will qualify for the regional tournament.
Year 5 Camp - Term 3 Week 7 - Great Aussie Bush Camp \, Kincumber
We are excited to offer our Year 5 students th e opportunity to attend the Great Aussie Bush Camp — a three-day\, two-n ight adventure designed to provide students with an invaluable opportunity to build independence\, resilience\, and confidence in a supportive and f un environment. \;

The annual Book Parade is on to celebrate Book Week. Student s from Kindy\, Year 1 and Year 2 will dress up as their favourite book cha racter and parade with their class. Students are encouraged to bring a cop y of the book or a print out of the front cover.

Your child has been chosen to participate in the 2025 Maths Cup competition. Maths Cup is a competition held annually against other lo cal schools and aims to develop students’ mathematical skills in a compe titive and fun environment. The day is structured to develop teamwork and problem solving skills. Prizes are on offer for the winning teams. Student s will be placed in teams of 3 and during the day will visit different sta tions to solve a variety of mathematical challenges. In the lead up to the tournament we will practise a variety of challenges at school.
Year 1 students will participate in a mini incursion through out the week that showcases the skills of community workers. This incursio n involves inviting the local fire fighters into the school. The incursion links to our persuasive writing unit about students choosing convincing o thers about the best career.

Being a member of the Greenway Park School Debat ing team\, your child has been selected to trial for the regional team. Th e trial date is Thursday 4th September 2025\, held at Bardia Public School . \;
Parents will need to drive their own child to B ardia Public School and arrive at 9:30 am to prepare for the day. Parents will also need to collect their child at 2:30 pm from the school.
Teachers and parents are not required to stay\, as students will be involved in debate preparation for the majority of the time. If select ed\, your child will form part of the SWS regional team and will be requir ed to attend a three-day debating camp in November\, at The Collaroy Centr e Homestead Ave\, Collaroy Beach.
Students are required to be in full school uniform as set out in our uniform policy. They are re quired to have adequate food and drink\, writing utensils and a notebook. Debating is part of our Gifted and Talented program and students benefit f rom being involved in this enrichment activity. \;
Students will have the opportunity to participate in a speci al learning experience at John Edmondson High School. During this visit\, students will explore a range of topics through han ds-on science experiments\, engineering challenges\, and STEM problem-solv ing activities. \;
This program is designed to deepen t heir knowledge of specific subjects and encourage curiosity\, creativity\, and collaboration.
As part of this experience\, students will also gain valuable exposure to a high school environment.
Students will need to bring water\, recess\, lunch\, and their school hat on the day.
Students will travel to John Edmondson High School via the John Edmond son mini bus. The bus will be driven by a John Edmondson staff member.
RAW ART is a student program offering fun\, educational\, and hands-on art experi ences within a 75–90 minute session. During this time\, classes work dir ectly with a professional artist. The program enriches the school’s crea tive arts curriculum while also supporting student wellbeing. Each worksho p is designed for students to learn a specific art process or technique\, create their own unique artwork\, and\, in some cases\, explore an artist or art movement. All artworks have been selected to align with the theme o f the school-wide art exhibition scheduled for Term 4. \;

During the guided visit\, a Professi onal Leader will escort us through the Opera House where students will be taken on a journey to learn about how a young man from Denmark\, Jø\ ;rn Utzon\, created a living sculpture and building on Sydney Harbour that changed the course of twentieth-century architecture and the city of Sydn ey forever. \;
Uncover the history of this UNESCO world heritage site &ndash\; from its beginnings as a First Nations meeting place for sh aring stories and celebrating connection to culture and tradition\, to Utz on&rsquo\;s competition winning design that almost didn&rsquo\;t get selec ted.
Following this\, students will visit on Gadical country of the Eora Nation\, Royal Botanic Garden\, Sydney. Whilst there\, they will expl ore an outstanding collection of more than 27\,000 plants from around the world. Encompassing 15 themed gardens\, including an Australian Rainforest Garden\, a Tropical Garden and one of the largest green walls in the sout hern hemisphere inside The Calyx- it is a living testament to the beauty o f nature\, and one of Sydney&rsquo\;s top attractions for tourism and leis ure. Following this they will enjoy a picnic lunch. The Botanic Garden is rich in Aboriginal and cultural history and remains an area of great signi ficance for Australians across all cultures.

On Wednesday\, 12th November\, 2025 (Term 4\, wee k 5)\, Kindergarten will be visiting Calmsley Hill City Farm as part of ou r Science Unit: ‘Living World’. This excursion provides students with fieldwork opportunities to observe and explore various farm animals and fa rm produce. They will be given the opportunity to milk a cow\, enjoy a tra ctor ride through the fields\, touch the animals in the nursery and watch various demonstrations on the day. The students will travel by seat belted coach to and from the farm. \;
Students will need to be at school by 8:15am and meet their teacher in the P1 playground to hav e their name marked off the roll. We will be leaving at approximately 8:30 am and returning to school by 3:00pm.
You will need to pa ck everything in a small bag that students are able to carry and manage th emselves during the day. The excursion will go ahead regardless of the wea ther. If your child experiences travel sickness\, please advise your class room teacher prior to excursion.

The Great Aussie Bush Camp offers an exciting opportunity for your child to learn\, grow\, and connect with their peers in a unique outdoor setting. Students will take p art in a range of activities designed to build skills that support their o verall development\, such as resilience\, cooperation\, leadership\, and i ndependence.
While engaging in adventure challenges\, bu shcraft workshops\, team games\, and cultural experiences\, your child wil l be able to extend their classroom learning in a hands-on way. The camp i s aligned with the curriculum and provides practical learning experiences in science\, history\, and environmental awareness. As part of our Culture Club activities (Wednesday 25th March plus mornings in Term 2 Weeks 3\, 6\, 9) students will be travelling for the session by seat belted mini bus (driven by John Edmondson High staff) to visit John Edmondson High with a Greenway Park teacher (Ms Turner). Stu dents will participate in a range of fun activities \;with their high school buddies\, which may include sport\, art and/or cooking in the home economics kitchen.

We a re excited to announce the upcoming 3-6 Athletics Carnival\, which will be held on 26th March at the Campbelltown Athletics Centre. This event offer s students a wonderful opportunity to take part in a range of athletic act ivities\, develop their skills\, and enjoy a fun day with their peers. Ple ase ensure your child comes prepared with appropriate sportswear\, a hat\, sunscreen\, and a water bottle. We look forward to a fantastic day of par ticipation and community spirit!
At the end of Term 1\, we are excited to celebrate our students. \;
As part of our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) program \, students who have consistently demonstrated expected behaviours will be rewarded with a \;Silent Disco!
This fun and eng aging experience allows students to wear wireless headphones and dance alo ng to music of their choice in a safe and supportive environment.

Year 6 Camp - Term 1 Week 10 - Canberra
This a wonderful opportunity for students to participate in tailor made teaching and learning experiences that achieve various cross-curriculum o utcomes. \;
Through a range o f experiences students will strengthen friendships\, develop social skills \, and enhance their ability to work collaboratively. \;
This memorable experience encourages students to step outside their comfort zones\, and create lasting memories with the ir peers.
The total cost of the camp is $470.00. &n bsp\;A non-refundable deposit of $100.00 is to be paid to secure your chil d's place. \;There is a remaining balance of $370.00. \;< /strong>This covers all meals\, accommodation\, activities and travel. Tra vel will be in air-conditioned coaches with seat belts. \;
Plea se complete the permission form as soon as possible. Further information r egarding what to pack for the camp will be sent home shortly. \;

The Department of Educatio n and Training School Swimming Scheme is an intensive learn to swim progra m\, which develops water confidence and provides students with the basic s kills in water safety and survival. The scheme is conducted over 5 days. Each daily lesson is 85 minutes\, which includes a mix of theory and practical lessons.
Students who have not reached a satisfactory standard of water safety and survival skills\, and are unable to swim 25m confidently\, unai ded in deep water\, are eligible to participate in the swimming scheme. Th e program is open now for students in grades 2 to 6. \;

During the visit\, students will attend a planetarium session and explore a range of interactive exhibits and activities. These experiences will help students build their scientific understanding and develop curio sity about space and the world around them.
Students will travel to the Space Centre by coach\, which is equipped with seat belts for safety. They must arrive at school by 8:30 AM to have their names marked off\, as the bus will depart promptly at 8:50 AM. \;< /strong>
Students will need to bring a packed lunch\, water bottle a nd morning tea from home. There will be no opportunities to purchase food on the day. Students should bring a small bag only on the day.
The bus is scheduled to re turn to Greenway Park Public School at approximately 2.40pm
