The Department of Education offers an intensive learn to swim prog ram known as the School Swimming Scheme. This scheme is available for stud ents who have not reached a satisfactory standard of water safety and surv ival skills and are unable to swim 25m confidently unaided with correct te chnique in deep water. This is also a fantastic opportunity for those alre ady confident in the water to further develop their swimming techniques. T his opportunity is only open to Year 2 students. Should positions not be f illed there MAY be an opportunity for other students to attend.

Bargo Public School&rsquo\;s K-6 Athletics Carnival is sched uled for Week 2 of Term 2\, Monday 5th May\, 2025. \; It will be held at the Narellan Sports Hub\, Athletic Facility\, P orrende Street Narellan. \;This venue is an International sta ndard\, all-weather track and therefore can be used even if we receive wet weather prior to the event. A Back up date of Monday 12th May has been booked if the weather is too inclement for the event to proceed.< /p>
To ensure maximum participation and the success of this whole school event\, there will be no cost to students and their fami lies. The school will cover the cost of transport\, venue and equipment hi re.
The athletics carnival will be a whole school event and all stud ents are expected to attend and participate. Students will compete in age groups according to their year of birth and will rotate through each event . A program of events will be available prior to the day. \;

To ensure we get through our events\, students will need to be at school earlier than normal school starting time. Students who wish to p articipate in the 800m race need to be at school by 8:00am for an 8:15am d eparture. All other students will need to be at school by 8.45am for a 9.00am departure. Please note that students who travel to sc hool on the Picton Buslines service\, if possible\, are asked to make alte rnative arrangements to be at school earlier\, to be on the 800m bus\, how ever should your child be required to catch the morning school bus we will wait until it has arrived before leaving. \;

Your child has been selected to represent Bargo PS at the Ra zorback PSSA Zone Cross Country Carnival. The carnival will be held at Cam den Bicentennial Equestrian Park\, Camden on Thursday 8th May (Week 2)\, w ith the first event commencing at 10:00am.
Students and their parents are required to arrive at the venue \;no later than 9:00 am. \;This year\, there will be \;NO \;walk through of the cou rse. A video of the course will be posted on the Razorback social media pa ge and emailed to schools prior to the event. Competitors will be shown th e video of the course at school before the event.
The PS SA Cross Country Carnival levy is $7.00 per competitor and must be paid to school prior to the carnival. To minimise costs\, we are requesting your assistance in transporting the children to and from the carnival. \;

The Life Education van will be visiting Bargo Public School in Week 6 of this term. Life Education engages students in their learning about social and emotional learning\, health\, safety and relationships ed ucation. It brings lessons to life for students. Life Education specialist educators\, along with their much loved mascot Healthy Harold the giraffe \, teach children important health and wellbeing lessons that are engaging \, inspiring and empowering. \;

As part of our Geography and Science and Technology units th is year\, Stage 1 students will be visiting Minnamurra Rainforest. This ex cursion gives students the opportunity to explore one of Australia's natur al environments and learn about the plants\, animals\, and features that m ake rainforests so special. Students will engage in a range of environment al activities and go on a guided walk through Minnamurra Rainforest. This hands-on learning experience will support students' understanding of place s in Australia\, living things and their environments\, and our responsibi lities as caretakers of the natural world.
Stage 2 students have the opportunity to attend an excursion to ‘The TOPS’ located at Stanwell Tops\, in Term 4.
They will b e involved in a variety of exciting\, challenging and fun activities. Thes e activities will also help develop and build relationships with both peer s and teachers.
Cost for this excursion is approximately $70 -$75 per student (If it goes ahead)

Your child has ach ieved selection in the Bargo Public School team to compete at the Razorbac k Athletics Carnival at Narellan Sports Hub on Friday 5th September 2025. The carnival will begin at approximately 8:15AM and conclude by 3:30PM. A separate information sheet will been sent home with the events your child will compete in.
Students will need to meet the designated Bargo PS teacher at the venue and check in prior to their first event. We will noti fy you who the teacher'\;s will be prior to the day. Upon check - in ea ch student will receive a school representative sports singlet. Students m ust be signed out by a parent before leaving the venue and return their si nglet. \;
Explore how living things have different features and basic needs which can be met. Learn that plants and animals can be used for food and clothing.
All year 6 students attending Picton HIgh School have the op portunity to attend a taster day. This day will provide students with oppo rtunities to trial classes run by specialised teachers including cooking\, PDHPE\, STEM and Visual Arts. \;
Students will be transported t o and from Picton High School by bus with accompanying teachers (Mrs Harri ngton and Mrs Young. Students will leave at approximately 11.00am and shou ld arrive back at school at approximately 2.00 pm\, when normal classes wi ll resume.
Market Day is a whole school fundraiser for our Stage 3 stud ents to raise money towards their Year 6 Farewell. \;
There are over 21 activities for our students to enjoy on the day.\, with prices of stalls either $1 or $2.

In History\, stage 2 students are looking at how communities change overtime. This incursion offers students the opportunities to unde rstand Aboriginal culture and how it has changed after British colonisatio n. Students will learn about celebrations\, music\, art\, language and cra fts through the action-packed incursion.

Our choir and drumming group has been invited to attend Wara tah Highlands Retirement Village\, Bargo\, as part of their Christmas cele brations. \;Students are excited to bring festive cheer to the local retirement village with a special performance of a joyful range of Christm as songs and drumming beats. We will share the spirit of the season throug h timeless carols and holiday favourites\, spreading warmth and happiness to brighten the community&rsquo\;s celebrations
We are excited to announce that for the very first time Barg o Public School choir will be performing at the Picton Botanic Gardens Car ols by Candlelight event on Friday 12th December. \;We are hoping for as many choir students to attend as possible. It’s a great community ev ent and lots of schools and acts will be performing\, we are so excited fo r Bargo Public School to be apart of this event. \;We have also been invited to join in the grand finale. \;
Parents need to bring st udents to the venue and meet Mrs Young &\; Mrs Ball at a designated spo t which will be confirmed at a later date. Parents must remain on site and are responsible for their child/ren at all times\, including taking them to the toilet. We will hopefully have an area where we can meet and sit to gether as a group (this is not compulsory). Parents can then collect their children after the performance or stay for the finale. \;

Bargo Public School Swimming Carnival will be held at Wollon dilly Leisure Centre on Wednesday 4th February\, 2026. Travel will be by b us to and from the venue. This year the carnival will cater for competitiv e and non-competitive swimmers aged 8 years and up (Year 2 to Year 6). Chi ldren must be turning a minimum of 8 years old\, in 2026 in order to atten d.
Students who intend to swim in the swimming carnival will be subj ect to a pre-assessment swim on the morning of the carnival\, to determine their swimming suitability. \;
The cost of attending the swimmi ng carnival is $17\, which includes bus travel and pool entry. The cost wi ll be the same whether your child intends to swim or not. \;
Wol londilly Leisure Centre offers a spectator entry fee of $2.80. Parents and carers are welcome to attend as spectators\, however\, students will be r equired to sit with their house groups with teacher supervision. \;
Students will be unable to access the canteen during the day\, and wil l be required to bring their fruit\, lunch\, recess\, and a drink bottle. Whilst at the carnival\, students remain in the supervision of teachers an d will require teacher permission to go to the toilet or the canteen. \;
Students must ensure they have applied adequate sunscreen before they leave home and bring sunscreen with them to reapply during the day. S tudents are required to wear their sport uniform with swimmers underneath. They should bring other important items such as towel\, hat\, plastic bag for wet items\, and change of underwear\, in a backpack or bag they can c arry independently.
If you wish to give permission for your child to attend the 2026 Swimming Carnival at Wollondilly Leisure Centre\, you nee d to complete and return the pages attached\, providing permission to atte nd and also specific information regarding water activities. Please comple te and return the three pages attached with payment via School Bytes or to the office\, by Thursday 18th December 2025.
Accident insurance inf ormation: \;
In the event of injury\, no accident or medical ins urance cover is provided by the NSW Government Treasury Managed Fund for s tudents participating in school sporting activities\, physical education l essons or any other school endorsed activity\, unless there is a breach of duty of care by department or school staff. The NSW Department of Educati on is insured to meet the financial impact of any legal liabilities arisin g from its activities. It does not provide\, nor has it ever provided\, ac cident or medical insurance for students enrolled in government schools.
Concussion Management: \;
When a student enrolled in a gove rnment school is diagnosed with concussion\, the principal must be advised in writing as soon as the diagnosis is confirmed. Students may only retur n to sport and physical activity once a medical clearance has been provide d to the school and\, if at a school sport event\, to the supervising teac her. \;
Any student that experiences a suspected concussion duri ng a school-endorsed activity\, will be removed from the activity and pare nts/carers will be advised that a medical follow-up is required. \;
If medical clearance is not provided\, the student cannot participate in vigorous or competitive school sport or physical activities for 21 days from the concussion date.
Students in K-6W and K-6O have the opportunity to attend a C ome and Try Athletics day at Campbelltown Athletics Track on the 17th Marc h 2026. We would like to provide this opportunity for our students however require offers of transport to and from the venue. Could you please fill out the permission note should you wish for your child to attend. Please a lso complete the section regarding transporting your child and other stude nts to and from the venue. If you are able to assist with transport the sc hool will request a copy of your current driver's licence and comprehensiv e car insurance. \;Depending on the number of offers of transport wil l determine if this opportunity will be able to proceed or a limited numbe r of students attend.
