The Big Play Day is an opportunity for your child/children t o come together with all students participating in the Music In Schools pr ogram\, to form ensembles\, rehearse under the guidance of highly skilled NRC band leaders and perform in a free concert for family and friends.
Students from Years 3 – 6\, who are engaged with a NRC music tutor or participate in a NRC ensemble at their school\, are eligible to participa te. \;An invitation has been emailed to parents from the Northern Riv ers Conservatorium. Live from the Larynx is an impressive performance combining beat boxing\, sampling\, mixing\, multi-media\, comedy and so much more. T he performance also includes an insight into human anatomy and how the lar ynx (voice box) produces sound. This performance will support learning in Term 4\, specifically an introduction to beat boxing in Stage 3 music less ons.
The Rivers Secon dary College is hosting The Proud and Deadly Awards Celebration and has in vited WRPS students to perform with their dance group. Students previously attended a workshop with high school mentors in Term 2. A rehearsal day w ill be held at the Lismore High Campus for students on Wednesday\, 20 Nove mber. As we e nd another year\, it&rsquo\;s time to celebrate the many good times at our Year 6 Farewell on \;Thursday\, 12 December.

The Year 6 Farewell Dinner is an informal celebration that marks the culmination of their time at primary school. With this in mind\, stud ents were asked what they would like their Year 6 Farewell to look like.
Students will arrive at 6:00pm at the car park drop-off point for a Y ear 6 photograph before moving into the hall around 6:15pm. There will be some light-hearted &lsquo\;awards&rsquo\; given out and a video montage fe aturing everyone&rsquo\;s journey from highchair to high school. As reques ted by the students\, dinner will consist of pizza or sushi and a mixture of beautiful desserts including a special Year 6 cake. Students will also receive soft drink\, popper and water during the evening. After the meal\, we will have dancing and a photo booth operating for the remainder of the evening.

The Swimming Carnival is a compulsory school event for all students in Ye ars 3 to 6 plus students in Year 2 who turn 8 years old this year.
< strong>Event Pre-Registration: \;Students must choose the events that they wish to participate in before the day.
Students will h ave the option of selecting Championship Events or House Point Events.
Championship Events: These events are for students who wish to c ompete for individual swimming champion\, and for a chance to qualify for the Northern Rives Zone Swimming Carnival. Students in these events should be able to swim 50m unassisted.
Please remember that the 100m frees tyle\, 50m butterfly and medley events are generally for those children wh o attend out-of-school training (e.g. squad training).
House Poin t Events: These events are for students unable to swim 50m. Events wil l involve shortened 20m races and novelty events. Students participating i n these events will still earn points for their house.
Please help y our child to carefully choose the events that they can compete in. If your child is a weak swimmer\, they may only participate in the Novelty Races (in the shallow pool) and not the 20m events (in the larger pool).

Students a ged 8-13yrs (the age students turn this year) will compete to attend the Z one carnival. The Zone carnival will be held mid Term 2\, with the first 6 runners in each age group selected. The age groups will be 8/9yrs\, 10yrs \, 11yrs and 12/13yrs with boys and girls competing separately. \;
Students aged 8-10yr s will run a 2km course\, while students aged 11-13yrs will run a 3km cour se. \;
Studen ts aged 5-7yrs will compete later in the day\, over a shorter distance.
Students are encour aged to wear their Sporting House Colours. Students are permitted to run i n singlets\; however\, they must change into a sun safe shirt after comple ting their run. Students are encouraged to bring a change of shoes and soc ks as occasionally part of the course can be muddy depending on recent wea ther. \;

'The Tricks Factory' from Byron Bay will provide all equipment and qualified s taff for the duration of the lesson each week.

Stude nts will explore the estuary from \;Shaws \;Bay to \;North&nbs p\;Wall\, where they will discover threatened \;plant \;species an d local marine life\, helping them better understand our unique coastal&nb sp\;environment. \;
At \;North \;Wall\, they
will see where the river meets the ocean\, gaining insights into how thes
e two bodies of water interact. \; \;
To \;top off the day\, students will enjoy lun ch and playtime at Pop Denison Park\, giving them a chance to relax before \;continuing \;their exploration. \;
We \;believe \;this experience will in spire \;our \;students to become more aware of environmental issue s and their role in protecting our planet. \;

TOWN Public Primary Schools from our community of schools ar e combining to play a netball gala day. \;
Students will be plac ed into mixed teams of 9 students to play modified rules netball games\, w ith a focus on fun\, fitness and teamwork.
It is necessary that all students bring the appropriate equipment to play netball including joggers and a hat. Students are asked to wear their sports uniform on the day. &n bsp\;
Next Wednesday\, 21 May\, Wyrallah Road boys&rsquo\; soc cer team will travel to Balzer Park\, Dunoon\, to play in the first round of the Boys&rsquo\; PSSA Knockout competition. The first round will be pla yed against Bexhill Public School. If successful in the first round\, the boys will play round two against Dunoon District. If they are unsuccessful \, they will play a non-competitive friendly game before returning to scho ol. \;
If Balzer Park is closed on this
day\, students will play at Dunoon Public School grounds. If the weather
prevents this \;option\, students will be advised of an alternative da

Our Compass Choi r will be visiting five local preschools to perform a selection of songs f or preschool students. This exciting event not only allows our choir membe rs to share their musical talents\, but also helps to support pre schooler s in their transition to Kindergarten by building positive connections wit h older students and fostering a sense of belonging within the school comm unity. \; \;
All WRPS student s will \;participate \;in the WRPS Athletics Carnival on \;Thu rsday\, \;26 \;June. The carnival will be broken into a senior car nival (students aged 8-13 years) and a junior carnival (students ages 5-7 years). Students&rsquo\; ages are based on the age they turn this year. \;
The senior carnival will be held at Hepburn Park Goonellabah and begins at 9.45am. Students aged 8-13yrs can compete in running events which incl ude the 100m\, 200m and 800m and if time permits 1500m. Finals for the fie ld events of high jump\, long jump\, discus and shot put will be held at s chool at a later date. Students will be made aware if they qualified for t he finals in these field events prior to the carnival date. Students who p lace 1st&nbs p\;and 2nd&n bsp\;and meet the qualifying standards can attend the Zone Carnival to be held at Riverview Park in Term 3. \; \;

We will be trave lling to Flat Rock Beach in Ballina by bus. The students will be \;par ticipating \;in \;a number of \;activities \;organised&nbs p\;by school staff members. These activities include a coastal walk\, obse rvation and data collection\, beach habitat exploration using our senses\, Aboriginal dreamtime \;stories \;and a sandcastle competition. All activities will be held in a safe and secure environment under the direct supervision of teachers. Our Learning Suppor t Officers will also be accompanying us. \; \;
\;No money will be needed on the day. Child ren will wear their school uniform with \;appropriate footwear \;f or physical activities. \;

As a culminating activity for our ‘Ties to Travel’ integ rated unit\, students will participate in an exciting excursion that bring s together their learning about travel\, tourism\, forces\, and community connections to place. The day will begin with an exploration of the histor y of travel at Ballina City Council’s Burns Point Car Ferry\, where stud ents will learn about the role ferries have played in connecting communiti es and travel as pedestrians on it. We will then visit and ride on the Byr on Bay Solar Train\, discovering how modern technologies support a long-st anding industry and linking this to our science focus on push and pull for ces in transport. To further explore how people connect to and value place s\, students will enjoy lunch and play at Pop Denison Park\, experiencing firsthand how positive experiences\, appreciation of natural beauty\, and enjoyment of local resources foster strong connections to place. This will be a fun-filled day that consolidates our classroom learning in meaningfu l\, real-world contexts.
Tomorrow will be Rihito’s last day at our school before he returns to Japan. To celebrate our time with Rihito\, we will be having a small farewell party. Your child has nominated to be a Year 5 buddy to support our Kindergarten students next year. As part of this program\, we will be vis iting the Parish Preschool on Wednesday\, 26 November at 11:30am to contin ue developing connections with our Kindergarten buddies.
Students wi ll be transported by Miss Wilson and will spend approximately 40 minutes a t the preschool\, engaging in activities such as reading to the children a nd playing games.
Please ensure your child is wearing their full sch ool uniform for this visit.
We will be trave lling to Rocky Creek Dam by bus. On the way\, we will stop at the new Lism ore Skate Park to observe one of our kinder students demonstrating their s kateboarding skills. Students will not be using the skate park. At Rocky C reek Dam\, the students will participate in 3 different activities deliver ed by Dorroughby Environmental Education Centre to support our ‘Rainfore st Safari’ integrated unit of work. These activities include a rainfores t walk\, rainforest \;habitat exploration using our senses\, and forest party song and games. \;All activities w ill be held in a safe and secure environment under the direct supervision of teachers and Dorroughby staff. \; \;
No money will be needed on the day. Children will wear their school uniform wi th appropriate footwear for physical activities. Hats and water bottles are essential for t he day. Students will need a packed recess and lunch as there is no cantee n available. \; \;

As we end another year\, it&rsquo\;s t ime to celebrate the many good times at our Year 6 Farewell on Thursday\, 11 December.
The Year 6 Farewell Dinner is an informal celebration t hat marks the culmination of their time at primary school. With this in mi nd\, students were asked what they would like their Year 6 Farewell to loo k like. \;
Students will arrive at 6:00pm at the car park drop-o ff point for a Year 6 photograph before moving into the hall around 6:15pm . There will be some light-hearted &lsquo\;awards&rsquo\; given out and a video montage featuring everyone&rsquo\;s journey from highchair to high s chool. As requested by the students\, dinner will consist of pizza or sush i and a mixture of beautiful desserts including a special Year 6 cake. Stu dents will also receive soft drink\, popper and water during the evening. After the meal\, we will have dancing and a photo booth operating for the remainder of the evening.
Parents are invited into the hall at 8:00p m to participate in the Pride of Erin with their child. The Year 6 Farewel l will finish at 8:30pm. \;

The design for our Year 6 shirt for 2026 is nearly complete. We will be ordering them at the end of the term so they can be printed ov er the holidays and ready to wear at the beginning of the school year.
\;The shirt will be a maroon polo shirt. The front of the shirt wi ll have the WRPS logo and artwork created by our Aboriginal and Torres Str ait Islander students\, while the back will have a list of all the Year 6 students below a title: Wyrallah Road Public School Class of 2026.&nbs p\;The shirts are 160gsm Triple Mesh and will be sublimated with the design. \;Shirts will be purchased at a cost of $35 each.
No late orders c an be accepted after the due date as the printers will only set t he machines up for one print run. \;

The school dance groups (Stages 2 and 3) and the senior choi r have been asked to perform at the Far North Coast Legacy Christmas Lunch eon event. Students will travel to the Lismore Workers Club where they wil l perform a number of dance and choir items for the ladies. They will also present them with their Christmas hampers and interact with them after th e lunch. Students will be provided with ice cream with topping and/or spri nkles and a drink before they return to school. There is no cost to famili es for this excursion. \;
As part of our end of year celebrations\, K-2 will be having a fun day to celebrate the successful end to another year of learning. Th is is a special day for students to engage in a variety of fun activities with their class\, teacher and their stage. \;
One part of this day will be spending time on the inflatable waterslide. All classes will b e allocated time across the day for some water fun! Students will come dre ssed in casual clothes. Please ensure their casual clothes are also sun sa fe.

Your child has been selected as one of nine student leaders at Wyrallah Road Public School to participate in the Student Leadership Co nference being held at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on 10 Mar ch. Speakers this year include: screenwriter and author Thomas Duncan-Watt \, upcoming star of the live-action Moana film\, Catherine Laga'aia\, adve nturer Daniel Bull\, and Australian Hockey legend\, Mark Knowles.
We will be traveling by bus with students from other Lismore schools.
Students are required to be at Goonellabah Public School at 6:30 am . The bus will depart at 6:45 am sharp.
Anticipated return time is 5 :45 pm at Goonellabah Public School.

As part of an upcoming sc hool media project\, we will be recording video and capturing photographs of students and school facilities during the school day. On March 26th\, Stage 3 students will showcase their homewor k projects focused on climate and the environment. Each class will present their displays in their own classrooms\, and parents and carers are warml y invited to visit and view the projects between 9:30 and 10:00 a.m.

Term 1 Wellbeing Day is coming up in Week 10! This special d ay helps students build positive and respectful relationships with their c lassmates and teachers through fun\, age-appropriate activities focused on teamwork and social skills. Teachers will run the activities during one s ession at a time that works best for their class.
Stage 3 students will engag e in a free workshop to gain the skills to create strong passwords\, use t wo-factor authentication\, enable privacy settings on social media and how to stay safe playing online games. They will begin to understand the powe r and danger of what is shared online.

We are inviting expressi ons of interest for students to participate in a NSW Department of Educati on Arts Unit workshop\, mentored by the Brolga Dance Academy.
This is a one-day workshop for ATSI students in Years 3–6.

Our SLSO\, Amarni\, will attend and supervise students on the day.

During the session\, students in Stage 2 will receive a c ard containing four boxes to be stamped. As students complete each activit y\, they will receive a stamp. The first student to complete all activitie s and collect all four stamps will be the winner of the &ldquo\;Amazing Ma th Race.&rdquo\;
Dear Parents/Carers\,
Your child has been selected to as sist as a school leader or Year 5 buddy at our upcoming Kindergarten 2027 transition event\, Meet\, Explore\ , Play\, on Tuesday 21 Ap ril (Staff Development Day).
There will be two sessio ns held on the day\, and all participating students will remain a t school between sessions under the supervision of Miss Wilson.
During the event\, students will greet families and support future Kindergarten students in a range of classroom activities.
Arrival times:
Students are welcome to bring a small bag with snacks and a drink to have between sessions.
Pick-up: Students are to be collected from the KW classroom at 5:30pm.
This is a wonderful opportunity for students to demonstrate leadership\, support our future Kindergarten students\, and represent our school with pride.
