Your student is one of eight stu dents who has been selected to attend the CBCA Illawarra Kids Literary Lun ch at the Fraternity Club in Fairy Meadow on Tuesday 29th October 2024.&nb sp\;
Students from across the Illawarra will have the opportunity to sit down to a delicious lunch with local authors and illustrators. They'l l be learning about what it's like to write\, illustrate and publish child ren's books and what motivates and inspires these creators to keep making them. \;
There is no cost to students\, as the school will cover the cost of attending this event. \;

Year 6 students will be travelling by bus to Jamberoo Action Park to enjoy a fun day in the sun\, to celebrate the end of their primar y years.

This day involves a lot of s wimming and a whole heap of fun! Stage 3 teachers are excited to take the class of 2024 for a fun and enjoyable day out.
Jamberoo Action Park will be closed to the public on this day and only participating public sch ool students will be at the park that day. \;
This excursion is a Year 6 reward and celebration\, however\, if any student'\;s beha viour does not meet school values and expectations\, their participation i n this excursion will be decided upon by the school. \;We hope that a ll students are able to follow school rules and attend this excursion. The school is committed to following behaviour polices and if any student is not able to demonstrate safe and responsible behaviours at school\, they w ill not be able to attend. \;

This year the Stage 3 Ca nberra Excursion will be held in Week 11 of Term 1. The excursion itinerar y is comprehensive and has been planned to complement the Stage 3 History unit of work on Democracy and Australian Government. \;

We are most fortunate to again have Mrs Louise Luke as our band tutor for 2025 from Wollongong Conservatorium.
Band w ill commence next Monday 17th February.
Our PHP S Band Program is a year-long commitment. The cost s associated with this program have been worked out on the number of stude nts involved. We do our best to keep this costing to a minimum and this ye ar the band fee is again $12 per student per week for Beginner and Advance d bands. You will not be charged for any weeks that the band program is un able run. (Please note that this cost has not increased for the last four years).
Each term our students in the band program will receive a te rm fee (based on the number of weeks in the term that band will be running ). \;
Term 1 fees are due by 3rd March. Terms 2 \, 3 and 4\, band fees are due in Week 2 of each term. We are required to pay the Wollongong Conservatorium each term and we rely on prompt payment of fees by the due date please.
As band will commence next we ek\, please confirm your child’s participation for 2025 by completing th is online form. \;Once confirmed\, we will add the Term 1 ban d fee to your school bytes account.

Our Stage 2 Camp to Berry Sport and Recreation is coming up next term on 19th &ndash\; 21s t May 2025 (Term 2 - Week 4). This is an exciting opportunity for ou r students to extend their skills\, build teamwork and friendships and is great preparation for future camps/excursions. \;
We will be att ending Berry Sport &\; Rec Camp in Berry\, which will provide many wond erful outdoor &\; sporting activities in addition to team and independe nce building experiences.

We would like to confirm your child’s position in the Year 2 Dance Group this year. The students have already started learning their moves for the South Coast Dance Festival.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that studen ts who take part in all extra-curricular activities are representing our s chool and are therefore required to demonstrate exemplary behaviour. The Pleasant Heights Annual Athletics Carnival will be held at Kerryn McCann Athletics Track\, Beaton Park on Tuesday 13th May 2025.&n bsp\;
This carnival is a part of our PDHPE program and all K- 6 stud ents are expected to participate in the carnival. \;
Most studen ts will travel by bus to the venue. \;

Students in years 3-6 have the opportunity to attend the mati nee performance along with hundreds of other students from across the stat e.
Year 6 will be hosting a Mini Fair fundraiser for years K to 5 at school on Thursday 24 July (Term 3\, Week 1) during school time.

The PHPS Advanced Band will be performing at the&nbs p\;Bands in the Mall \;event\, organised by the Wollongong Co nservatorium\, on Friday 19th September. \;
This is a fantastic opportunity for our school band to showcase their talents.
The PHPS Band will be perform ing at approx. 11:30am on the stage in the Wollongong Crow n Street Mall (near H&\;M). \;
Families are welcome to join u s in the mall to watch the performance. \;
To celebrate a wonderful year together\, all students in KS
and KR\, and their Big Buddies will be going on an excursion to Stuart Par
k\, Wollongong.
Students will have the opportunity to use the play
equipment\, build sandcastles\, watch the parachute jumpers land\, and mak
e use of the large play areas.
This excursion supports our geography unit ‘People Live in Places’. Through integrated learning experiences\, students will invest igate ways in which people interact with and care for places while identif ying their natural and human features. With a focus on the importance of l ooking after different environments\, students will discover the varying c onnections of special places for different people and animals whilst getti ng up close and personal with some furry and scaly friends.

The Scheme will continue daily for two weeks \;from 10 November 2025 to 21 November\, 2025 (Weeks 5 and 6). \;

We believe this is a wonderful opportunity for the students to engage wit h peers from another school and contribute to a meaningful community proje ct.
Year 6 students will be travelling by bus to Jamberoo Action Park to enjoy a fun day in the sun\, to celebrate the end of their primar y years.

This day involves a lot of s wimming and a whole heap of fun! Stage 3 teachers are excited to take the class of 2025 for a fun and enjoyable day out.
Jamberoo Action Park will be closed to the public on this day and only participating public sch ool students will be at the park that day. \;
This excursion is a Year 6 reward and celebration\, however\, if any student's behaviour does not meet school values and expectations\, their participation in thi s excursion will be decided upon by the school. \;We hope that all st udents are able to follow school rules and attend this excursion. The scho ol is committed to following behaviour polices and if any student is not a ble to demonstrate safe and responsible behaviours at school\, they will n ot be able to attend. \;
The next SRC network meeting for our school leadership team will be held on Wednesday 19th November 2025 at Lindsay Park Public School .

Our Stage 1 students will travel to Killalea State Park for an Aboriginal cultural day\, where they will participate in many tradition al experiences and gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Austral ia&rsquo\;s First Nations culture.
Students will learn about the cul ture\, traditions and history of the Dharawal people on a unique guided to ur with Gumaraa Aboriginal Experience. \;
All Year 5 and 6 students are invited to attend the Year 6 F arewell at Holey Moley Wollongong.
Our annual swimming carnival will be held on Tuesday 3rd Feb ruary\, from 9:30am – 2pm\, at the University of Wollongong Aquatic Cent re.

Our Stage 2 Camp to Berry Sport and Recreation is coming up next term on 18th &ndash\; 20th May 2026 (Term 2 - Week 5). This is an exciting opportunity for our students to extend their skills\, build teamwork and friendships and is great prepa ration for future camps/excursions. \;
We will be attending Berr y Sport &\; Rec Camp\, which will provide many wonderful outdoor &\; sporting activities in addition to team and independence building experie nces.

We would like to confirm your child&rsquo\;s position in the Year 2 Dance Group this year. The students have already started learning their moves for the South Coast Dance Festiv al.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that s tudents who take part in all extra-curricular activities are representing our school and are therefore required to demonstrate exemplary behaviour. This includes following teacher instructions and behaving in a manner that is safe to themselves and others\, whether that be at school during class time\, play time\, or when representing our school in the community. Plea se understand that student safety and wellbeing is top priority. Students who are unable to meet these expectations may not be able to participate. \;
The South Coast Dance Festival runs from \;< /strong>Tuesday 26 May &ndash\; Friday 29 May 2026. \ ;We do not yet have the timetable to know specifically when our schoo l will be performing\, however\, it might be worth checking your calendars to ensure your son / daughter will be available during that week\, as wel l as for rehearsals during the weeks leading up to the festival. Please le t us know asap if they are not available on any of those dates. Unfortunat ely\, if students are not available on these dates\, they will not be able to participate. \;
For your child to be eligible to participate in the South Coast Dance Festival\, the festival requires wri tten consent (please see below). The second part of this note gives permis sion for students to be photographed for Facebook\, Instagram\, local news papers or video for television stations.

Life Education empowers children and young people to make safer and healthier choices through its engaging education programs. They are Australia’s largest preventative health organisation\, reaching over 710 000 children across the country.
Life Education Illawarra substantially subsidises student visits to the Life Education van\, throug h their tireless fundraising efforts.
