The Department of Education School Swimming and Water Safety Program is an intensive learn to swim program for students in Years 2-6\, which develops water confidence and provides students with basic skills i n water safety and survival. The program is conducted over 10 days with 45 -minute lessons each day. There will be four sessions each day and student s will be allocated a daily session to attend.

Students who have not developed a satisfactory standard of water safety and survival skills or are unable to swim 25m confidently in deep water are strongly encouraged t o participate in the School Swimming and Water Safety Program. However\, t he program is open and beneficial to improve the swimming and water safety skills of all swimming abilities.

Positions available in the progra m are limited\, so please consider completing the permission note and maki ng payment as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. \;

Stude nts will be tested on Day 1 of the program and placed into groups by the S wim School teachers. Students will NOT be re-tested or change groups after Day 1 of the program.

We are excited to announce that studen ts in Years 5 and 6 will participate in a special author incursion with Au stralian poet\, author\, and performance artist \;Solli Raphael.
Solli Raphael is an award-winning young poet and speaker who is passionat e about empowering young people through language\, creativity\, and self-e xpression. He became the youngest person to win the Australian Poetry Slam Championship and has inspired audiences across Australia through his perf ormances and writing.
As part of our English studies this term\, stu dents have been exploring Solli Raphael&rsquo\;s novel \;Spotlight. Th e text has provided valuable opportunities for students to engage with the mes of identity\, resilience\, friendship\, and finding one&rsquo\;s voice . Through class discussions and literacy activities\, students have analys ed character development\, language features\, and author purpose.
T his incursion strongly supports outcomes from the NSW English K&ndash\;10 Syllabus\, particularly in the areas of:
responding to and analysing literature
understanding how language shapes meaning
creating and performing texts for different audienc es
developing confidence in speaking\, listening\, and expressing ideas.

Below details important informa tion about the Festival of Instrumental Music Concert at the Sydney Opera House.

Festival of Instrumental Music (Sydney Opera H ouse Performance) \; \;
As part of the rec order group\, we will be attending the Sydney Opera House for a concert on Wednesday 23rd September 2026 \;(Banksia Concert).
I will take the students on the train in the morning to Sydney for a final rehearsal on the day itself. \;
The rehearsal begins a t 1:00pm and concludes at 3:15pm. \;
After the rehearsal (3:15pm) students will nee d to be collected by their family (or a nominated person) from teachers at the meeting spot (a map will be sent home with meeting spot marked) for a n early dinner\, and then return back to the meeting spot at 5:45pm to get ready for the concert. \;
It is expected that parents/carers\, having purchased tickets\ , will attend the evening concert and transport their child home when the concert concludes at 8:30pm. \;
The concert b egins at 6:30pm and concludes at 8:30pm.

All students must meet at the Mittagong Train Station northbou nd platform at 8:15am for roll marking and final instruct ions.
Students will be boarding a train from Mittagong station to travel to the Sydney Opera House at 8:47am.
Students will need to arrive at the train station in their performance attire (festival t-shi rt\, long black pants or black tights and skirt with black shoes)\, also w ear your Mittagong school jumper or jacket (so we can see you on the train ).
Students will be unable to take a school bag\, they will be pro vided with a small canvas bag that they can carry their belongings in. The purchasing of food for recess/lunch will be unavailable due to time const raints. \;

Parking is available at the Sydney O pera House\, and you may want to consider pre-booking.
Co st for Participation:
The cost is set by the Performing Arts Unit at $31 .50 per student.
The cost covers all music and a c oncert T-shirt. \;

Students will also be requir ed to hold an OPAL car d with $15 credit\, to travel to Sydney o n the train.

Tickets are only available for purchase from the Sydney Opera House box office. The co ncert series often sells out very quickly\, sometimes within hours of open ing. To avoid disappointment be prepared to book from 9:00 am on the morni ng that bookings open and be certain of the concert name and date. Ticket prices are $47 full price and $39 for concessions\, with a limit of THREE TICKETS per booking. \;

Cluste r Rehearsal:
